Suitcases/travel bags -

Where do you store your suitcases/travel bags?

We have some that are almost never used, but we need to keep just in case we have a big trip, and some that are used every other week.

I don't like taking up valuable realestate, so to speak, to store them.  Garage is prety full and they would get dirtier out there.  Attic same dusty issue.  No basement.  I'm feeling that the closet space could be put to better use. and they won't fit under the bed.

Re: Suitcases/travel bags -

  • We each have two roller bags.  The small roller is stored inside the larger roller and then put on the top shelf of our main closet.   We reinforced the shelves with additional brackets to accomodate the extra weight.  We used to have more suitcases but pared down when we realized that the small rollers are perfect for a one-week business trip for each of us and the big rollers get used for our two week vacation.   I have been debating eliminating one of the big rollers because we rarely use both rollers at the same time.

Two dumb questions--1) if you aren't using them, why keep them?   2) if you aren't using them frequently, why not put in a clear plastic garbage bag and store in the attic/garage?

  • I have one suitcase and it's only used occasionally. When it's not being used, it is stuffed full of other things and stored inside a closet. Right now it is holding extra purses, camping duffel bags, a laundry bag (for vacations so dirty clothes aren't laying around the hotel), and my beach bag.

We have one big suitcase that we use together when we're visiting family across the country... we're usually out there for 2 weeks at a time. It takes up too much space, so it is stored in a garbage bag down in the basement.

  • Luckily we can store ours in the basement.  I put smaller suitcases/bags inside of the bigger ones.  I do keep some duffle bags under the guest room bed.
  • Put smaller suitcases in the larger ones. We also store some of our out of season clothes in them, that way we aren't completely wasting space, and the out of season clothes have a spot to be

  • We store are hard-sided suitcases in the garage on the shelves - they don't get dirty at all.

  • I've been doing that Big Smile

I store my luggage on big plastic bag and store it on basement.

  • Our suitcases w/rollers are up on a shelf in our spare bedroom closet. Our weekend bags and totes are tucked into each other and put on the shelf as well. Pretty easy. When the spare BR turns into a nursery, we'll just move them to one of our other closets.
