OMG I LOVE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEASON
Both my teams are undefeated! Kentucky pulled out a nasty win over ODU today. And then Murray came from waaaaaaay behind (so far behind I had quit listening to it) and beat UAB by 7 points! We're the only team left in our conference to be undefeated.
*sings* It's the most. WONDERFUL timeeeeee of the yeaaaaaaaaaar!
So, what's up with you guys?

Re: OMG I LOVE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEASON
I'm still trying to mend my broken heart from last night's Duck game. sigh.
Question for girls with rival college programs in state - does it get vicious? when you're not playing each other, are you supportive of the other state teams besides yours?
With the Beaver win and Duck loss, the Beaver-meanies came out in full force and it's really hard not to shake my head. They have been so hush-hush because of how shiity their season has been, but after yesterday they just lashed out like crazy. I don't see it happen on the Duck side as often as it does on the Beaver side - many Duck fans (at least that I know) are happy when the Beavers do well, because it makes it more fun for everyone when we compete. I'd rather civil war be more between equals and a good game, not blowing them out of the water - so I want them to have a good season. Many Beaver fans (at least that I know again) refuse to ever wish good things for the Ducks. Including rejoicing when we lose big games, and even when we lost at the national championship last year. So wondering if it's like that in other states... I mean if you didn't get to go, wouldn't you want your state to still represent?!?! I don't get it. Wondering if it's just another one of those negative side effects of Uncle Phil or if other states are the same? /endrant
I can comment on this.
Kentucky's instate rival is Louisville. There is no love lost between the two at all. The basketball games are vicious. And I don't cheer for Louisville at all under any circumstance.
Murray State has 3 real rivals in basketball. Morehead (in conference), Western KY (out of conference), and Austin Peay (out of conference). WKU, I'm feeling a bit of a dilemma. In basketball, I'm pretty much against them all the time. There was one year where they made it to the sweet 16 and I was cheering for them. Also, we've been following their football team this year and rooting for them because they're bowl eligible for the first time ever. We live in such close proximity to Bowling Green and have lots of friends that went to Western, so it's hard not to give into the hype. Will I ever wear a WKU shirt? Hell no. But I don't hate them as vehemently as I do the others.
I root against Morehead all the time. Including last year when they were in the tournament. It was a toss-up for me, though, because they were playing Louisville.
As for Austin Peay, their fans are awful to Murray State. I mean awful. Very low class. We went to the game between the two last year at APSU. There was a student holding up a sign that said "I'd rather have AIDS than go to Murray State". The other side of that said "Two things not to be- a terrorist and a Racer". Yeah. Well we won (SUCK IT!!). Walking back to our car, a vehicle driving slowed down and called out to us "Hey! Excuse me!" Thinking they were needing directions or something, H started to walk over to it. They followed it up with a big "FVCK YOU!" and drove off. So, no, I never cheer for APSU.
I just want to add that I also love college basketball!
Go SHU Pirates!
Everyone who hates Duke say HOLLA!
I could care less how many wins Splinter has.
Holla. Holla holla holla holla holla holla HOLLA.
That would be Christian Laettner's foot stepping on a Kentucky player in the East Region final in 1992. If he had gotten called for that and ejected like he should have, he wouldn't have made the game winning shot. Really, I'm at a loss as to how the entire Big Blue Nation hasn't taken out a hit on this dude these past 20 years. It's still very fresh in our minds.
HOLLA!!!!!!!!!
Neither UCONN or Maryland really have "in-state" rivals, so I can't really answer that question. But, we all hate Duke so it works out.

I can't believe I rooted for UConn last year. I felt like I was betraying my team since they beat UK both times they played, but I couldn't help myself.
I can't believe I root for UConn now! I always was anti-UConn because everyone loved them so much. You know, because I had to be different. Then when I was in college of course I could only cheer for Maryland. But, you know, it is hard to be a Maryland fan from afar and I'm from Connecticut -- so it is okay. I had a dad in my class last year who wore his heinous Duke sweatshirt every time he volunteered in my class just to annoy me..and it worked!
