Vegas tips...

My hubby & I are headed to Vegas in December for a 3 day getaway. I've been there three other times (including once in May this year), but it is our first trip together & his first non work-related venture.

What are your "must do's" when visiting there? We want to see a Cirque show, with "O" being our top pick but unfortunately it isn't being performed while we are there. Any suggestions or insider tips?

TIA!

Re: Vegas tips...

  • We were just out there last weekend. :)

Where are you staying?  If you dont want to walk or take Taxis, get a bus pass, the buses are quite nice, and clean.  I think its $7 per24 hours, or $20 for 3 days?

We did the Buffet of Buffets deal at Harrah's properties.  It was worth it, especially when we timed it right, like the $28 dinner at Planet Hollywood, Sunday Brunch at Paris (amazing by the way) $24 or $26 and Dinner at Cesars, and the last meal Dinner again at Planet Hollywood.  You get 24 hours of meals at Harrahs properties for $44.99 + tax per person.

We saw Vegas, the show. It was fine, I would have enjoyed a more high end show, but it was fine, for our first show there.  I did hear from several people out there that the Cris Angel show is a waste, and Peep Show is not worth the price :) We would have seen the Beatles Show, had we had time, we heard it was good, or Mystere (sp?).

Check out Cosmopolitan, its SO pretty.

Paris Effiel Tower Experience (at night its gorgeous!) Get a coupon book from a taxi its a little one, but has a BOGO for it! :)

If  you like to shop, there are some good outlets, just take the express bus all the way to the end of the strip. :)

    Have fun!!

  • Jessi has some good tips :)

My biggest thing is checking out whichever hotel(s) are the newest since you've been last.  For sure Aria/Vdara/Cosmopolitan weren't around when you were there last, they are so cool to just walk around and check out.  They're all connected and in between the Monte Carlo and Caesars.

It all depends on what you like to do, but for me it's not a trip to Vegas without seeing the Bellagio fountains (better at night).

I saw Mystere and it was good.  I would have loved to see Love, but money was a bit more tight on my last visit so I had to skip it.  If you like the Beatles, I'd say see that for sure.

We stayed at Monte Carlo last and there's a free shuttle that runs behind it, from there to Cosmopolitan to Caesars (I'm pretty sure, or close to that).  Free = good and it saved some walking.

    thanks to jennied :)

  • Thanks for the bus tip!  I was trying to figure out the best way to get to the outlet malls:)  The buffet deal sounds cool too.  We are headed there Sunday BTW.

Another good transportation alternative is the strip trolley.  You can buy an unlimited pass for a day for that as well.

Drink at Fat Tuesdays, that is all:)
