So I am only making a turkey breast since we have so few people. It's been a while since I made one, but I don't think it generated a lot of drippings.
Any suggestions for making tasty gravy without the drippings?
If we had a Whole Foods, I'd just buy their prepared gravy, which I've had before and is tasty. But we don't and I'm not sure if we have another place to buy really good prepared stuff.
Re: s/o potatoes - Gravy?
i like lots of gravy, so i add stock to the drippings & then thicken from there. it's better, of course, if you can use homemade stock, but if that's not an option, boxed can work.
Also, if you put a little stock/water/wine at the bottom of the pan with onion, garlic, carrots, celery, etc, you'll make more flavorful drippings (and more "juice" for gravy).
eta: you put the liquid & veg at the bottom of the pan (under the turkey rack) when you put it in the oven
Stand up for something you believe in.
We always just add stock (either homemade or store bought.)
Ditto Kastle on putting some vegetables under the meat, and also some sort of flavorful liquid. It'll help in the end.
