Re: What are your favorite things

  • Hai! Happy Monday. My weekend was very yard work-y. I did the final rake and mow of the season and put away the patio furniture that came with the house so my deck is clear and ready for snow.

    How about you?

Stockings, oh stockings, I love them. My mom always puts razor cartridges (venus) in our stockings, which I love because I always have a little stash when I need a new blade. Some other favorites: Jewelry, candy, makeup stuff, smartwool socks, nail polish, pens, gift cards.

For BF I would love to put one of these watches in his stocking: http://www.ziiiro.com/

Alas, not in the budget this year.

  • Good morning! My weekend was alright, things are kind of in a sucky way right now and I'm hoping they will work out soon.

As a sweets addict, I love to receive candy in my stocking. FI put a lot of cool things in my stocking last year like new ear phones, hiking socks, a little Christmas card, cds and candy. I buy him the same type of stuff - new razors, work-out energy gels, usually I find some funny things at the dollar store - it really just depends. He doesn't like a lot of candy though because he's also a sweet addict. (Funny how we deal with it in two different ways!)

  • My sister and I do the stockings in my family.  And we've succeeded at getting our respective in-laws totally into stockings as well.  It's kind of our thing.

The BEST is to go to the Target $1 section and pick up things like cute Post-It pads, a pretty planner for the next year, candy, shower puffs, mini Slinkies, mini potted plants, pedicure set, etc.  I also usually hit up the ELF section of Target and get some $1 makeup brushes (even the women at Sephora have informed me that the ELF brushes are pretty damned good).

Also check out the Michael's $1 section.  You can get things like cute cards with their initials on it, fun little calendars, cute tins, etc.

For guys, I get things like bungee cords, candy, batteries, socks, flashlights, pens, etc.

I also usually buy a nipper of each person's favorite liquor and include that in their stocking and a few scratch offs.  I usually aim for about $1 per stocking item.

  • Morning! My weekend was ok. DS was a little fussy this weekend, but otherwise uneventful. Just cleaning and straightening to get ready for turkey day. Oh, we bought paint for the living room. We might try to get it painted on Wednesday... not sure about that yet. Definitely by Christmas though.

I like getting hair ties, chapstick and lotion in my stocking. I have long hair (that is always up thanks to DS) and chronically dry skin and chapped lips, so I blow through that stuff like it's nothing.

H likes getting CDs in his stocking... he usually gets a CD or two, maybe a video game, and random junk goodies.

DS will get some small stuff this year. But in future years, probably a few small things and that's where the batteries for his new toys will go.

  • When I was young, my brother and I always got school supplies in our stockings. Pencils and pens and whatnot. Now I feel like the good stuff comes in there! Last year it was a gift certificate to a nice spa. I also always expect to see good chocolate in there and chapstick. That's a tradition and Mom will still send it up even if we are not together for Christmas.

For DH, I do the chocolates and mints and maybe a magazine and a good pen (he's a lefty, so he's picky) and a lottery ticket or two.

Oh, and I love love love Smartwool socks, Interro. They are my favorite. Especially when they are new! New socks are my most favoritest.

The weekend was good (yay for warm weather!!), though not super productive. It was a little pathetic how much football I watched, but all the big teams kept going down and I just couldn't stop.  We also went to the grocery store and seeing people clamoring to get the best turkey reminded me that it's Thanksgiving week, so now my tummy hurts because I am just dreading this holiday. Bleah. I need to suck it up, but I don't wanna!

    Good idea!

I want imoan to be in charge of my stocking this year (as long as I can still get my fancy chocolate!).

  • Candies, Pens, Cute Christmas Socks(bonus if they have the toes), and the little games that use golf tees for pegs.

    Weekend wasn't terribly eventful.

    I'm wearing new Smartwools today!!

There is a store near my house that sells them for less. I don't know if they're seconds or what but they're real Smartwools, no visible flaws, for 40% off. Win. I got these: http://www.smartwool.com/womens/jovian-stripe-12.html#Union-Blue for $12.

This is my favorite thing to get and give in a stocking.  H & I always give each other some kind of cream liqueur like Bailey's and drink that Christmas night.  In addition to our traditional bottle of Christmas asti spumante. lol.

In my family you always get a huge orange and tons of candy in your stocking, too.

  • We LOVE stockings!  We are serious about stockings.  I was proud of myself because I started to purchase stocking stuffers about a month ago. I've never started that early. Now I have the box my Keurig came in FULL of stocking stuffers.  It feels good!

  • We get/give small things - DVDs, costume jewelry, lottery scratch-off tickets, socks, gum.  Candy is also a popular stuffer provided that the person isn't on a diet.  Sometimes my parents sneak a "big" gift into the stocking (like a gift card).

My weekend was good - busier than I expected.  Bought all the Thanksgiving supplies/food yesterday and almost had a cardiac episode at the cash register.

    This is my siggy.
  • Small sized gifts, favorite candies (dark chocolate is big in our house), favorite products - lip balm, kleenex, etc- and an obligatory orange at the bottom of the stocking only because my mom and MIL both did this when DH and I were growing up

  • I like to give lottery tickets and whatever random small things I can find.  This year I bought BF a carpet bocce game that will fit in his stocking.  Also, I love giving and getting cards.

I like getting toiletries and that's usually what my parents give me.  I got so many razors one time I didn't need them again for a VERY long time!

I felt ahead of the game because I already bought a couple of Christmas presents and I'm not usually that on the ball, but haven't done anything since.

Weekend was ok.  I was sick, but still productive.  And girls afternoon was fun yesterday, as was laying my lazy a$$ on the couch all night!
