Thanksgiving

What's everyone up to for thanksgiving?  I was suppose to go see my family in Cali but Lawson had different plans lol. DH has to work. It is a bummer but really good extra money which is nice. I'm going to make a turkey in a roaster we have and stuffing in the crockpot for him and his coworkers. He will run home mid day and pick all the food up and take it in to work.

Re: Thanksgiving

  • Sorry you can't make it to Cali, but it sounds like you have a good attitude about it.

Me and DH are going to my parents house this year. My whole family will be there and I think FIL and SIL will be joining us. My mom and brother are making a turduckin ( a duck deboned rolled and stuffed into a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned turkey!) and all the traditional thanksgiving sides. My parents raised all three animals this year so everything is coming from the farm. I'm pretty excited!

  • DH and I have all our family except for my parents in NC.  We had originally planned to make the trip but that changed last month when I was hired on at my new job.  I had a feeling that I'd be working Black Friday (which I'm cool with!) so there was no way I'd be able to travel.  My parents decided to stay home as well.

We'll be celebrating with a nice lunch of turkey, ham, dressing, and all the good stuff.  DH requested I make his favorite 7 layer salad and pumpkin roll.

I actually look forward to Thanksgiving morning most of all.  DH and I put up our Christmas tree and watch the Macy's Parade.  I'm making some new ornaments next week in time to put on our tree this year!

  • We're going to DH's aunt's house around noon, then to my parents' around 4. My brother's birthday is the 25th so we're celebrating thanksgiving evening.

  • Flying to Naples, FL on Monday for a week with the In-laws! Whee.

My dad is flying down and is staying with us Tuesday-Friday, so that will be good (and much needed backup for me!).

Wednesday the rest of DH's family flies into town, and we all hang out for the rest of the week.

Turkey Day Proper, I'm getting up, running a 4-mile race, and then helping to cook dinner for 15 people.

  • I'm so behind on this board these days!  But I'm trying to catch up :)

We are staying here in San Diego for Thanksgiving.  We have friends coming to town.  We promised H's sister that we'd come to her house for Thanksgiving, but often on holidays she doesn't actually get around to cooking the food.  Or she does it super late.  So we offered to bring appetizers (so I know we can eat when we get there) and then we'll just leave if there isn't food and figure something else out.

Then we'll probably do our own actual Thanksgiving with our visit friends on Saturday.   Complicated, but we haven't seen much of her or her kids recently, so we figure it's good of us to go hang out.
