Thanksgiving week is here!

I am so so so excited!  What fun plans does everyone have?  DH has the week off so we are going to go out tomorrow to do our Christmas shopping!  Friday we will cut down our Christmas tree and decorate the house.  Then sometime during the weekend we are going out with friends of ours and their baby.

Re: Thanksgiving week is here!

  • Sounds awesome!  I have three days of work then Thurs and Fri off.  We are staying local for Thanksgiving and hopefully getting some small projects done around the house over the long weekend.
  • I'm jealous of you both. We're driving a toddler to see DH's wacky extended family for Thanksgiving/college graduation/sales pitch. Then we're spending a couple days with MIL (I will be drinking heavily ;), then making our way back up here. Good times.

  • Good luck, Dr.L! Thank goodness for adult beverages, huh?

I'm on vacation all week, and my husband is off starting Wednesday.  We're having a quiet dinner at home, so tomorrow I'll run out and grab everything we need. Fingers crossed that it all comes out ok!  I'll probably start some Christmas shopping as well, but since I have no idea what to buy anyone, I'm hoping it doesn't turn into me buying things for myself. Embarrassed

  • I'm so not ready to do any Christmas shopping.  It doesn't feel real that the holidays are here already.

We get off just a little bit early on Wednesday (3pm) and then are off for the rest of the week--hooray!  My parents are hosting the extended family potluck and I'll probably make my dish over there.  I'm trying my hand at making a prime rib roast and am making baklava, too.

As of right now we're supposed to close on our refi on Friday, so not sure how that's going to affect any shopping we might do otherwise.  I'd like to pick up our Christmas tree that day though so we can maximize the amount of time we have it.

Since we're not hosting Christmas this year, per DH's request, I think I'll tone down some of the decorating this year.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I started getting a cold in the middle of the night. Crying I'm home from work.

We're going to MIL's Thursday. I'm making stuffing and green beans (pretty much for myself) and DH is making an apple pie. Besides the turkey MIL is making some kind of sweet potato thing and a cranberry compote.

Saturday we're having my parents over. I'm making a turkey with stuffing, caesar salad, and another apple pie. They are bringing potatoes for mashed, green beans, and broccoli casserole (which my mom was already making for their Thanksgiving with my aunt Thurs so she's going to make a little extra).

  • I go back to work on Monday after Thanksgiving CryingCrying  Crying

We go to my parents house for Thanksgiving-- they're only 45 minutes away but I convinced DH to stay Thursday night so I don't have to drive home that night (since he gets to drink).

My ILs are planning on coming down to visit DD on Saturday. Other than that, no plans! I need to relax and spend time with my munchkin since I won't see her every second of the day Crying

  • Today is my only full day of work this week.  Tomorrow is my 38 week appt and it's mid-morning so I won't be at work until lunch time then Wednesday I am working from home in the morning because my parents are coming.  Tomorrow is also my last day in the office!  They are letting me work from home until I deliver, which I'm very excited about.

My sister, mom, and dad will be here from Wednesday afternoon until Friday sometime.  We were supposed to go to my parents house on the Cape but decided we didn't want to be 2 hours away from the hospital this close to my due date, so as much as it's stressing me out hosting them, I'm glad.  And my dad is doing all the cooking anyway, so it really is no skin off my back.

And I would not be the least bit sad if any of this week's festivities were interrupted by going into labor.

  • Dr. L poor you!  Thank goodness for martinis!

Mrs. C I hope you feel better, and I can't wait to hear how it goes with your parents!

Mrs. T I am sending laboring thoughts your way!

  • My dad flew in yesterday so that my niece could spend Thanksgiving with her father in RI. Tonight, DH & I are taking my dad to the Pats game. Brrrr. Tomorrow is a regular work day. Then I'm off for the week. Thanksgiving will be at the ILs down the cape.
