vinyl and cricut, can anyone answer a couple questions?
ok I am making this for dds

it's just about done (of course my drill died this weekend and I could not finish it!) but the only thing I am hesitant on is the letters. I can't paint neatly at all, so I was thinking maybe I could use vinyl letters. I have a cricut (or 2....) but I have never used vinyl before and honestly not even sure it would work? so, how does it work? I was googling and I see some marked "adhesive" so does it actually have adhesive then and it will stick? would it stick to painted wood? any other better ideas I am not thinking of?

Cute! My BFF's mom just made that for her granddaughter.
I have used vinyl on stained and polyurethaned wood to make a growth chart. The vinyl stuck wonderfully. Then I used some stickers I had on hand for the numbers and had to use glue to keep them down... it's a product called Yes Paste and dries clear. If you haven't ordered any vinyl yet, I would probably order the outdoor vinyl for a stronger hold.
Another idea is to use the vinyl (or contact paper) as a stencil to help you get the neat look you want.
Here is a thread on where to buy - I asked this a while back
