TIP on Starting Over

After 4 years and 2 kids together, he calls off the wedding. It turns out he has been with another woman the entire time they were together. Oops.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns

I think I am an atractive 36 year old woman...who takes care of her family and works hard!!! What could I have done to keep this from happening?

I hate when women say this.

I mean, a douche is a douche, but it appears she got pregnant as soon as they met.  That's one thing she could've done differentely...could've waited til she knew him to get knocked up.

Although I don't disagree with you that she should have used birth control, I don't know if even that would have changed things. It seems like she had no idea that he was with someone else 4 years later- kids or no kids.

SRS, I hate that too. He's the scum, not her. She may have had some bad judgement, but you just can't control someone else's behavior, no matter how attractive you are.

  • She could have been one of those women that find out 15-20 years later their H has been living a double life, with two families. At least she found out now so she doesn't waste any more time with him.

  • And this is why you don't have children with someone after knowing them just a few months.

    Ugh....:(

    Tough break for her.

Either he concealed his affair very well or the signs were there all along and she ignored them or he cheated and got caught and she somehow let it go.

    Yes

I find it hard to believe there were no signs at all, especially when she says something like this "I know our relationship wasn't a bed of roses.... and what relationship is?". That is the kind of crap people in crappy relationships say to justify staying in said crappy relationships.

Ditto this.  Agreeing to marry someone when you describe your relationship is "not a bed of roses" isn't a smart move.
