I thought it was a pretty good episode. My husband is threatening to stop watching if Dexter doesn't kill anyone soon. lol.
I don't get how it could work if Dexter gets professor since the cops are onto Travis. Wouldn't that mean they end up arresting Travis anyway??? Or I wonder if it IS Travis doing all the killing. Like for some reason this professor is a figment of his imagination even though he was a real person? I'm so confused since no one has seen the professor.
Someone is going to catch on to Dexter too. I have a feeling he is going to be closer to getting caught.
Re: Dexter 11/20 *spoilers*
I've thought all season that the professor is a figment of Travis's imagination (obviously he is a person that exists/existed, but I don't think he's with Travis now). No-one except for Travis ever interacts with him.
But -- I don't know how Travis got chained up then.
Yea this was me last night. Like, who would have chained him up if he is fake BUT where were his severe burns he just endured??? How was he standing when he just got burnt wherever?
my read shelf:
I'm thinking Gellar isn't real too. Like Travis has a split personality thing going, Gellar is his freaky bad side that does all the killing. But with all his discussion about getting his sister safe and out of town... I don't know. How would that help if he is the killer? Kind of confused still, and it doesn't help that I was Christmas decorating last night instead of keeping my eyes on the tv, so I missed stuff I'm sure. I wonder what the real relationship was with Travis and the professor. What's the deal with that photograph they keep showing?
And also, what is up with LaGuerta getting all up in that case about the dead prostitute? Is it really about numbers or is that some political favor she's trying to deliver?
I think part of the problem with this season is that I'm losing sympathy for Dexter. He's not delivering justice to horrible people who slip through the system. He's directly interfering in a case that Deborah and team could solve just fine on their own. And he's being really sloppy about it. It's frustrating to watch.
ITA with the bolded. I feel like he's letting too many people in on who the "real" Dexter is and it will only cause trouble down the road.
I found Deb to be really believable when she was so upset about Dexter shutting her out. I wonder how much their divorce IRL is playing with their emotions on the show and I wonder if the writers are purposely going with this storyline because they are divorcing.
I believe the chief (if that is what LaGuerta's boss is) is the one who was with the prostitute.
Also...about Deb. I don't get why she is so upset about Dexter not talking to her about his issues...he NEVER has!
my read shelf:
Oooo I never thought about the professor not being real. But didn't the one girl that Travis let go say she heard two voices? I guess he could have changed his voice based on who he "was" at the time - either way, interesting idea!
Blog a Log
Hmmm, I never would have thought that Gellar doesn't exist. I don't think I buy into that based on some of the things that have already been mentioned, but it would be a pretty interesting twist.
Dexter is getting pretty sloppy with everything. It really frustrates me that he won't just let the investigation do what they have to do. And picking up a pen from the motel in Nebraska? What was he thinking? I think what is probably trying to be conveyed is that this battle with darkness and light is making him a little less on target than he usually is, but it still is getting annoying to watch.
also 100% agree with the bolded!
i was annoyed that he was mean to deb. it was sad to watch b/c like pp she was SO believable. i may have made my facebook status "dear dexter, be nice to deb. love, manda" LOL
This is true. My husband said that the chief was with that prostitute. So if Deb reopened the case then eventually they would have caught the Chief.
I don't think Gellar is a figment of Travis' imagination. I do think Dexter and Gellar will eventually meet face to face next week.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
I'd have to watch it again, but I remember thinking that the way she worded things indicated she only ever heard Travis, but got the feeling that there was someone else in charge...
I think LaGuerta is covering for Batista with the prostitute. She randomly shows up, asks where Batista is and he declined the invite to the strip club with Quinn. Plus he has a history with prostitutes...uh oh.
Oh and I totally think Gellar is a figment of Travis' imagination.
Yea but in the beginning of the season the Chief was caught with hookers and La Guerta knows.
my read shelf:
we know he was/ is real. I think now the speculation is that he is dead and "living on" with Travis/ split personality somehting like that
Gellar is to Travis what Harry is to Dexter. That's how I think of it.
This was how I meant it as well. Somehow no one might know this guy is dead....
my read shelf:
Gellar definitely was a real person. He was someone who was very influential over Travis. It's just hard to tell if that that influence was purely past or past and present. I'm thinking Gellar might have been the first person Travis killed over some apocalyptic difference of opinion. And now, exactly as other have mentioned, he's like Dexter's Harry. A voice in his head who influences the decisions he makes.
