Happy Monday!

Hooray for a short work week!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Friday I went out to dinner and drinks with friends. It was a lot of fun catching up with everyone, but I woke up with a slight hang over on Saturday. Embarrassed

I ended up laying out for most of Saturday and then I went to a wedding on Saturday night. It was a nice wedding, but the MOH got really, really, really (side story, it's kind of sad bc I've heard from multiple sources, including her exFI that she may actually be an alcoholic) drunk and her speech was so craptastic and uncomfortable. She was practically, clinging on to the bride for dear life because she couldn't really stand up straight.

Then, Sunday was pretty low key; just sleeping in and running errands.

Happy Monday everyone!

Re: Happy Monday!

  • Good morning! We had a pretty good weekend. Did some errands and Christmas shopping. I bought a new coat so hopefully I will finally be warm. Did some baking but my oven died in the middle of that so we had to go buy a new oven and microwave last night. Not totally planned but we had the money saved so I am looking forward to the new oven.

Just 3 days at work this week and I don't have too much planned. I do teach a class on Wednesday, although I expect attendance to be low. I'd really like to run out and get DH's Christmas gift, but I probably shouldn't do that. We'll see.

  • i got home little past midnight last night and didn't get to sleep until after 1 (needed to shower after smokey casinos in vegas!) then woke up little past 4 to get to work.

needless to say i'm miserable today...for multiple reasons. i still can't stop crying, and have let tears fall about 7 times today at work. i hope i get over this soon.

  • Good morning...

Jenn, I am so, so sorry about how miserable your weekend was and for all that you've discovered about your new SIL. That just sucks all around, and nobody can blame you for being so upset about it. I would be broken hearted. I hope at the very least you get a good long nap today, and that your busy schedule over the next few weeks/getting ready for the baby will cheer you up. FTR, your kid will be 100x cuter than SIL's. Just saying.

I'm soooo happy it's just a two day work week! I took Weds off to decompress before T-day with my family on Thursday. I also have a ton of cooking to do... I've offered a hundred times to host thanksgiving, but my mom always insists it's at her house, yet I end up making the bulk of the dinner. Sigh. Grocery shopping will commence tonight.

We had an ok weekend - perfect date day on Saturday with H, got some really sucky news Saturday night, and that kind of put a damper on our night out. Oh well. Yesterday, I ran the Greenlake Thanksgiving 5k - gorgeous, gorgeous day for it but I haven't adapted so well yet to cold weather running so it was a little more of a challenge than I expected. Last night we roasted a turkey for the heck of it, and my grandma and uncle came to dinner and watched some football with us. Then H and I stayed up too late talking and I'm dragging today, but it was worth it. We had a lot of really good talks this weekend, and I love when that happens.

  • Yay short work week!

Once again we didn't do anything exciting over the weekend. I did find out that I had looked at the wrong date for Thanksgiving at the IL's. It's Friday, not Thursday. Oops! Luckily I don't have to work that day. : )

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Jenn - I'm so sorry your weekend was miserable.

My liver now needs weeks to recover I think. Short work week, I really need to get on making my list for everything this weekend.

Two little wake-ups and my mom and dad will be here!

  • Happy Monday on a short work week (I hope everyone gets Friday off!) I was pretty darn productive this weekend so that makes me happy. Got the primer coat on my bookshelf, sold off 3 more pieces of my uncle's furniture, got our turkey (we're hosting this year). Just need to send H to get the rest of the ingredients since I have to meet people AGAIN at my uncle's. Trying to sell off the last 3 major pieces of furniture before St. Vincent's picks up whatever's left on the 26th.

Last night I managed to get 60" of the rope edging off my new Lenox tablecloth. The tablecloth was $25 (normally about $100) and is the Opal Innocence which matches our formal china. However, the tablecloth is 60x140 and our table with the leaf in is only 64. So I'm removing a long stretch of the roping, then cutting the cloth shorter to look better on the table, then will reapply the roping to finish off that edge. A bit of work, but for 75% price savings, MORE than worth it! Plus, I'll be left with a good enough scrap that I can make a table runner out of it to put on the sideboard. Although I just did the math and I may have ripped 20" more than I was supposed to...ugh, because it did shred the edge and I will have to reattach but then the edge will be smaller by about 1/2". Oh crap. :(

  • Happy Monday!!  It was a good weekend but pretty low key.  We ran some errands, I went to a house warming party with my running friends, and we watched a lot of tv :)  We also decided to spend New Year's in Hawaii so we booked that this weekend.

I'm looking forward to a short work week!

  • Happy Monday!!

This weekend went by really quickly. On Friday, my Saturday, work called and needed me to come in.. so i spent my Friday night at work. Saturday morning I went to celebrate my BFF's bday and had the best New York Cheesecake pancakes ever.. at IHOP, lol.  I cleaned a bunch, did laundry, and sold the couch in our spare bedroom/h's room. Trying to make room for other things! :) Next year is getting so close!

I'm so excited it's Thanksgiving! We've had a rough busy season this year at work so tomorrow, 2 coworkers and I are making a Thanksgiving feast for the office. I'm in charge of turkey, mashed potatoes, and a pie. :) I'm so excited! Thanksgiving I'm cooking with H's mom! Pretty excited about that.

Jenn- I'm so sorry.. Have you tried to look at it like this, your brother is grown, and he is making his own decisions and mistakes.. so just let him do it? I know you hate her but she is having his baby and they are married... she will probably be in your life for a long time. Maybe you should confront her?

my problem with this is that he can't support himself, and my parents are his backbone. my brother is immature and lost in his own world enough, that he has no idea my parents have ZERO money. i don't remember what we were talking about, but i had said something about how i don't have money for it, and he said "just have mom and dad buy it".....uh. no. i make more money than mom and dad, and i have zero credit card debt---while mom can't buy a shirt w/o asking dad if she's going to max out the card.

this affects me because my parents can't cut him off (culturally, we *never* cut off our kids), yet my parents can't support him. and *also* culturally, when your parents need help, you give it. so therefore, i support my parents, who support my brother.

    *still catching up on everything*

I realize there are things that are culturally accepted and things that aren't, but since you are helping support your parents, don't you think you now have a say in how they spend their money?  As in, tell them you won't continue if they just keep forwarding the money to your brother?  H has grown up with a lot of traditional things, but he'll put his foot down when he has to.  sorry about all this :(

  • I'm back!  I also got in at 11pm and didn't go to sleep until late (but that's because we decided to make up for lost time AND also had a gchat about the fact that we need to 'force' sexy time more often in the hopes that sex will beget sex - it's easy to just keep not doing it).  Forced myself to get up at 8am though and am at work.  Doing ok, but will probably crash later since I've spent time in several different time zones over 10 days!

nope. don't have a say.. they are the parents, and they always, always, always have the "right" to tell us what to do. ..never ever the other way around.

  • I am so sorry about all of the Jenn, that really sucks. I do think having someone you could talk to that would understand all of the dynamics but have your needs in mind as well could be really important. You are making a person right now, I don't think you need extra stress!

I am just heading in to work for the afternoon, excited for a long weekend full of fun!

  • Good afternoon!
We had a busy weekend.  I worked my first day (well, trained) and the rest of the time was spent on house stuff.  We have a modular ikea kitchen (not my first choice, but it was here when we bought it and it works) and we rearranged and reorganized.  It is not 100x better than before.  I am so happy with it.  D also replaced the fluorescent light with a fixture like this (sort of):

and that made a big difference, too.  It's got fancy pretty light bulbs, too.
Hung the Christmas lights, the tree is up (not decorated), and got some holiday shopping done.
