Speaking of kids' Christmas gifts

Help an infertile out!

My BFF's kids are like my own (his son is my godson) & I always get them a little something (under $50/ea).  They are a 5 y.o. girl & a boy who will be 3 in January.  I don't want to be "that aunt" who gives them clothes!  I'd like to get them something gender neutral-y (my personal thing) & educational but fun.  But I have no idea where to start!  Bonus points for stuff I can order online because I hate shopping @ any time of year.  Thanks. :)

  • How about some rhythm instruments?

ETA: shakers, rhythm sticks, playsilks, drums

I could totally do that!  I got my godson a xylophone last year since my mom said it was my fave thing when I was 2.  I'll help him work his way up to an orchestra!

I love simple toys that kiddos can put themselves into. Anything simple that is music or art related is a winner in my book!

  • I love melissa and doug toys! On their site they break it up by ages

The food is such good quality and a boy and girl can play with them!

    Puppets are great - http://shop.gund.com/home/search/753.0.1.1?q=puppets

I had the sesame street puppets as a kid and they held up great and my mom just sent them back to me for Evie.

  • Leap Frog has a variety of products. LeapFrog.com has a Tag Reader Starter kit for $55 that could work for the girl, and several Tag Junior bundles that could work for the boy for around $50.
