What did you think?
I'm really hoping Shane and blondie-what's-her-face take off and leave. It seems like he was training her to do so. And I would like for them to take brown haired-whats-her-face-who-is-now-pregnant with them.
I don't think I've ever been committed to a show where I disliked the majority of the characters. And I can't think of a single person's name. What's up with that?
Did anyone catch the Talking Dead? Could you fill me in on what was discussed?
Re: Walking Dead *SPOILERS*
I would thumbs up your Shane and Blondie comment, but I can't.
I'm still annoyed the whole Sophia thing is still happening. I kept thinking last night Carl got shot and recovered in 3 episodes and they are dragging out the Sophia thing.
I did like when the old guy confronted Shane, but didn't like what Shane said back. I just really, really dislike him.
I was also really glad Rick's wife told him about her and Shane, cause I was thinking that was gonna get dragggeeddd out too.
The Sophia story line is really getting ridicules. There has got to be some type of point to it all. If she does turn up dead, I'll honestly be upset that they would drag out a kid being killed for so long. I wonder if she was picked up by another group of people. And once 'our group' leaves the farm they will run into each other and that will start an all new group vs group dynamic.
Also, her mom left a msg for her that they would be back to the highway everyday. I know that we don't see everything, but that doesn't seem to be happening. If I was that girl's mom and I couldn't go searching, I would be living at the highway. I can't stand how passive the mom is w/ the search efforts.
Andrea! That's her name....
This episode was pure filler for me. I know it's because next week is the mid-season finale and they are putting off all action for that, but I was fairly bored. The fact that the one character I really enjoy was only in it for two seconds didn't help.
I think part of the issue with the show being so drug out, is that they are having to alter the plot on a few different fronts to accommodate characters that aren't there in the books. At least one *should* be dead, and another doesn't even exist in book form, so everything they do on the show changes the story line in some way. Right now, it's not necessarily for the better.

They are really effing up this season.
I'm reading the comic books (I think I'm like issue 86) and I have no idea why they're dragging out the farmhouse storyline. I want them to make it to the second location!
Something about Dale just weirds me out, he always has to know everything...but I felt scared for him when Shane started threatening him. He looked terrified and Shane so menacing. Brilliant bit of acting from both of them.
I'm really glad they made progress in both the zombie barn story and the preggers lori plot, was afraid it'd be another drawn out drama like Sophia. Kid seriously needs to turn up. Srsly!
I have to pick on their continued hollywood pregnancy rules, ie needing to run out in to a field to POAS instead of doing it in the bathroom and the plus sign showing up before the pee even travels up the stick. So she sends them into town and danger for the morning after pill now that she's, what, 8 weeks pregnant? It's just the morning after pill, not RU 486. It only works THE MORNING AFTER. That's why it's called that, dumbass. Way to jeopardize everyone for a pointless pack of pills that you then can't bother to keep hidden from anyone that walks in your tent.
Agreed. And according to hollywood pregnancy rules, there is no way she would have actually gone through with an abortion anyway - regardless of how ill conceived her method may have been (what show has ever shown a main female character actually going through with an abortion?) . The Morning After Pill prevents fertilization - it is emergency contraception - it doesn't cause spontaneous abortion. So...yeah...way to perpetuate the misconception on what those pills do.... That whole scene bothered me a lot.
Anyway. I'm with some of the other posters in that I don't really like any of the characters. I'm not sure any of them have any redeeming qualities.
Obviously Lori and Rick's relationship was on the rocks prior to the "zombie apocalypse" - otherwise I find it unlikely she would have just jumped into Shane's bed so quickly. The fact that she is able to get Glen to find supplies for her, but cannot bring herself to tell her husband the truth is pathetic. And jeez, cut your hair off or put it in a ponytail.
The woman who is Sophia's mom (name? no idea) bothers me - I find it hard to believe she is not more distraught or has not been more adament about finding her child.
Dale is getting creepy. Shane already is creepy. Although I'm alright with the Shane/Andrea hookup. Perhaps they deserve each other. Was slightly nice to see her get a bit of a spine in this episode.
Glen - when Maggie said he was a "born leader" - where the heck did she get that idea? At most he is expendible to the rest of the crew because he is young, male and has no family.
Daryl is maybe the only redeemable character on the show.
And I still want to know why the farm is a zombie free zone. Have I missed something?
I'm a little disappointed that they will be off the air for a few months after this "mid-season finale"...I hope that they will re-tool the show and come back with a bit more momentum. But I fear that instead it will just get worse and they will lose the small audience they had...

The mom's name is Carol. I think she's so weak-willed because she spent so long being nothing but a punching bag to her husband. She doesn't understand how to stand up for herself or what she wants, which I think is why she's taken so strongly to Daryl. He is a very strong and opinionated man (at least outwardly) but has shown her immense kindness and compassion, not only in general but specifically about Sophia. He's the only one that has flat-out says he thinks they'll find her alive, and has been the only one putting real effort into finding her. I think the two of them are going to help each other a lot, since they both have been abused pretty heavily in their lives. They've just taken the abuse differently (Carol became meek, Daryl became a badass). That or something will happen to one and it will send the other completely off the deep-end.
I love Daryl. He is such a great character and such a juxtaposition, though I do give credit to Norman Reedus for that. He isn't in the books, so the fact that he's easily the most beloved of the show's characters really says something. Maybe that's why he's so great, because they have no basis for him and can write/play him however they want.
I think the farm is zombie-free because walkers aren't drawn to it. There's a huge group at the school some miles down the road, and all the dead from the family (and close friends) are in the barn. They probably do get the occasional straggler (guy in well) but Hershel probably wrangles them into the barn with the rest. I think the farm is actually reasonably isolated, and the group is having to travel miles before encountering the walkers they've come across.
I'm not sure how they would "re-tool" the show. They probably have a basic set of "what we want to cover" from the books, and are just filling in and adjusting as necessary. It is a character-driven show, so it's always going to be about these people - and those that come later. I do think it would be to their benefit to not drag shiit out so long, but again, I think they're doing it so that they can get from Point A to Point B of the story in a certain number of episodes while accommodating for sweeps. One thing I hope they do is start course-correcting for characters that shouldn't be there (except Daryl, who they'd be stupid to kill off) so that they can get on with it. I know it's nice to have familiar actors around, but the books have a high turnover for characters, so expecting all these people to be around for multiple seasons is really quite ridiculous.

I am starting to become unable to suspend disbelief much longer. Seriously all Lori would have done is puked up those pills. That is a shitton of hormones that would cause anyone to puke.
They seriously need to move the plot along. Something has to happen.
Did it seem to anyone else that blondie (have we decided her name is Andrea?) shot Daryl on purpose? I dunno; she had a weird look when she was aiming. I don't know why she would want him dead, but I just can't figure out her character anyway.
No, she seemed really upset when she realized who it was she shot
I agree. I really think she is no more than a imbecile who doesn't know her place. Ever.
YES! this annoyed/distracted me way more than it should have. i said, "way to confuse people even more!" i know it's a zombie show, but i thought it was incredibly irresponsible. great way to get a desperate person to purchase multiple pills, overdose, and hemorrhage!
