What to use to cut felt shapes?

I've started making my girls felt hair clips and am having trouble cutting the smaller detailed shapes so they look "neat" - like the perfectly shaped ones pictured on Etsy for example.

What could I use to cut the smaller shapes? I have a Sizzix Bigkick but I haven't tried it yet. I was thinking of trying a Fiskars craft punch but heard it's not sharp enough.

Ideas?

Thanks ladies!

Re: What to use to cut felt shapes?

  • Use your BK- it cuts through felt like butter. Just make sure you use steel rule dies (not the little sizzlets). Wool felt cuts a little cleaner than acrylic felts, btw, IME.
  • I am having the same issue.  All the ones that I have cut look crappy.  Do you know if the cricut will cut it too?  (sorry to hijack your post)
  • I've used my Big Shot to cut felt and it did an amazing job.

ETA:  I had to make sure it was packed tight enough to cut the shapes well.  The cuts were perfect when everything was done.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
