is it weird to bring your own comforter with you when traveling to family's house?

We're going to MIL's house for Thanksgiving (gobble gobble).  I want to bring my own comforter.  My husband thinks it is weird.  I cannot stand double comforters and have trouble sleeping in them so I want to bring my twin comforter along.  We're going in a car so it isn't like I have to bring a suitcase for it or anything.

Re: is it weird to bring your own comforter with you when traveling to family's house?

  • Do you and your H have your own comforters?    If it's what makes you comfortable, then do it! I always bring my favorite feather pillow with me when we travel.

    Yes :)

  • Weird? Probably. But if it helps you sleep and makes you happy, who cares?

I don't tote around a comforter, but I do bring my own blanket on planes (and then wash it the day I land). I'm usually cold and it means I can sleep and not worry about germs/too small blankets/planes running out of blankets, etc. And if people judge me, so be it. They are probably a-holes to begin with. :D

  • My mom brought 2 full sized pillows to London when she visited me in her suitcase.  She was worried I didn't have pillows.

If you have the room take it.

ooolala, I am always jealous of people who have their own blankets.  I really need to get one.

  • Probably, but who cares?  Be comfortable.  After all that Thankgiving food, I wouldn't want to share a blanket with a H either--mine was infamous for Dutch Ovening :P

haha.  That's hilarious.  Kind of weird, but I can totally understand.  You don't have to worry about him being a cover hog.

  • Not weird.  I have a friend who has done this for years.  Maybe she's weird?  LOL!

  • Um... my MIL specifically asks us to bring our sheets, pillows, and comforters with us when we visit so she doesn't have to do laundry after we sleep in the sheets for one night.

    So no, I don't think it's weird. :-)

  • I think it's weird. I also think that picking out all the red skittles to save and eat last is weird, but it's what I do. We all have our quirks and that's what makes us unique and fun : )
  • My DH and I have separate comforters as well..so I don't think that's weird.  I just got tired of trying to wrestle my half out from under him.

Also, if I was driving somewhere I would totally bring it with me.

  • Do it.  If we had room on some of our trips, I'd be taking our stuff with us.  As it is, when we go to Switzerland over Christmas, I'm packing our down comforter with us...sometimes the ones that come with the place just aren't comfy enough!
