Re: XP: Post your Thanksgiving menu

  • It's just me and BF this year (with some friends possibly stopping in and out during the day), so we're making small amounts of different things.

    Roasted Turkey
    Gravy
    Herb Stuffing
    Mashed Potatoes
    Minted Peas
    Brussel Sprout Hash
    Pesto Rolls
    Cranberry and Fig Chutney
    Pumpkin Pie
    Strawberry Bread

    This is my siggy.
  • Spring mix salad with goat cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries and red wine vinaigrette.

    Duck with orange sauce

    Butternut squash

    Crescent rolls

    Sweet potato pie

    Pumpkin pie

They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
  • Appetizers - - cheese and crackers and dips.

    Dinner

    Turkey with gravy

    Mashed potatos

    Stuffing

    butternut squash and apple casserole

Green beans with bacon and shallots

    Cranberry chutney

Pumpkin and Apple pie and ice cream.

Usually I also make sweet potato casserole, but I decided we have more than enough food/starch as it is.

I didn't even think of rolls!   Maybe I should run back to the store....

I'm coming to RP's house!  I love duck!

My parents are hosting and won't let me bring anything, so I have no idea what's on the menu.  I'm sure antipasto, turkey, gravy, stuffing, and mashed potatoes will be on there...I made roasted green beans last year that they liked, so perhaps I can convince them to do those again.  I *hope* we'll have ravioli (we do an Italian-American Thanksgiving: Italian apps, pasta course, then meat course, and dessert course).  Some sort of pie for dessert...probably apple or pecan, since my mom doesn't like pumpkin pie.

  • Appetizers:

    deviled eggs

Pumpkin dip w/ ginger snaps, apples

    Baked Brie w/ crackers

    Dinner:

    Turkey

    Ham

    Stuffing

    Mashed potatoes w/ Gravy

    Candied yams

    Green bean casserole

    Rolls

    Pumpkin Pie

    Sprinkling Punch

    Various Alcohol and wine available

Hot Buttered Rum w/ Spiced Rum

    Goodies:

    Banana Bread

Pumpkin Bread w/ Cream cheese frosting

    Candied mint sugar cookies

I am sure I will add to this as I always go overboard and never know when to stop. I also like lots of choices.

  • We're going to SIL's sister's house but we're bringing:

Stuffing (she makes one with sausage that SIL doesn't eat)
    Cranberry sauce
    Pumpkin Pie
Turkey-shaped Pumpkin Pecan Spice Cake (Williams Sonoma quick bread recipe)

Yes, my cake will be shaped like a 3-D turkey--PIPs after TDay!

Come on! There will be more than enough! I don't eat duck, so you can have my portion. Smile

  • My 6 year old son put together our menu (from looking at pictures of dinners online!!)

    Start

    Salad

    Dinner

    Roast Turkey (brined)

    Mashed Potatoes

    Green beans

    Carrots

    Stuffing

Black beans (not sure there that came from)

    Corn

    Cresent rolls

Cornbread (may skip since we have rolls)

    Gravy

Cranberry sauce (the orange flavored one - YUM!)

    Dessert

He wanted a chocolate pudding pie, but I got a box containing of a variety of bite size desserts from Trader Joes instead figuring we'll be too stuffed for pie.

He is in charge of making the corn (open can and microwave) and my 4 year old is in charge of desserts (opening the box and letting is defrost on the counter!)

I LOVE that the 6 and 4 year olds are playing very important parts in the dinner!  That's a great idea. :-)
