Another follow up question

I had a phone interview w/a company last Monday. Everything seemed to go really well. The interviewer pointed out several things she liked about my responses and my background on my resume. After all of the questions she went into detail about how the rest of the interview process would go, stressed the travel demands and told me to make sure that I keep those in the back of my mind as I go through the process etc. There are 2 positions open with this company. They're identical, but within different teams. The next step would be interviewing with the head of the other team. They're basically both interviewing applicants to see who works best for their team.

As we were getting off the phone she said not to expect to hear anything for a few days, but hopefully by the end of the week. That would have been Friday and now it's Tuesday. I'm not really worried yet because it took them forever to even schedule the phone interview after they expressed interest in me, however would it be appropriate to send a follow up today just to touch base with them before the holidays and see when they might be getting back to me? I don't have the interviewers contact info, but I do have the head of HR's email. Would you send her an email? I don't want to be that obnoxious applicant, but I've let a few days pass and it would be nice to know where I stand before the long holiday weekend.

Re: Another follow up question

  • I'd actually wait until after the holiday weekend. People may have taken the whole week off, or left before tomorrow to get Thanksgiving stuff done (or to travel). That may be one reason you haven't heard anything.

I'd touch base sometime mid-week next week when things have settled down again.

  • I agree that it would be good to wait until after the holidays to follow up.  That said, I would probably still email a thank you to the person who interviewed me.

I did that within an hour of our interview. Well, because her email contact wasn't given and I had been working with the head of HR up to that point I sent her a thank you note via HR.

    Thanks for the input, ladies!
