What are your Thanksgiving plans?
What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
I am hosting for the very first time, although not at my own house! My parents, Matt and I are going to Boothbay to be with my grammy for Thanksgiving. Since Grammy's apartment is not equipped for Thanksgiving dinner, I'll be making it over at my aunt's Boothbay house (my aunt will be staying at her primary house in Virginia for the holiday). My sister and her husband may also come, although their schedule is very play it by ear this week.
Re: What are your Thanksgiving plans?
We are hosting for the second time. Last year was really nice with just us, my parents, my uncle and DH's mother and sister.
This year DH "accidentally" (yeah, long story!) invited his father and stepmother, who then asked if her daughter and her boyfriend could come. Not a huge deal since everyone gets along and it's very casual, but just creates some seating challenges since we can easily seat 10, but now have 12. Good thing is that everyone is bringing a side or dessert so we're only responsible for the turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce and drinks!
Jen- I wish we were going to be coming home for the holidays, we would totally have to meet up again!
This year, we're hosting all of DH's family (sans his mother, who we are currently not on speaking terms with) in our new place down here. His middle brother, the sort of lost soul, is here already and will be staying with us for a week. HIs other brother and wife are flying in Wednesday and his dad and stepmom come in Thursday and we'll do dinner on Friday afternoon (our little tradition). Unfortunately, my family isn't able to make it down (Mum is staying in Maine to hang w/ my brother), so I'm pretty bummed but we'll have a full house.
I'm usually the one that pretty much takes the helm and prepares the whole meal, but this year I'm taking a much more laid back approach. Kyle and his dad are handling the turkey on the grill, his eldest brother is making desert and I'll be doing the sides. It'll be great seeing everyone, but I'm sure we'll all be exhausted by the time the week is over!

We are county bound! We were supposed to be having lunch with my Dad's aunt and extended family but she fell last week and is still quite sore so they opted to keep things low key. That means I will now have a date with an early bird, all the sides and dessert for myself, DH, and my Dad. We will be spending the evening with my mom's family and for that I get to kick back and relax.
The three of us and my MIL are going to my Uncle & Aunt's house. I have been asked to make peanut butter balls (I make them every year usually for Christmas)
There are going to be about 20 of us, we usually eat around 1 or 2.
After we have lunch we are going back to MILs house so we along with my BIL, SIL and niece can have dessert and spend time together.
Then home....it will be a long day but fun!
I wish you were too! I saw your post about your trip home for Christmas, so I knew you wouldn't be around for Thanksgiving or I would have been in touch. It's actually going to be a relatively quick trip for us. We'll get to BBH about 2:30 on Wednesday and leave by 9:00 on Saturday.
My sisters and brother in law are going to be here so it will just be my parents, siblings, grandmother and me - as far as I know! Matt is doing dinner with his family, dessert/his dad's bday celebration with extended family (and hopefully the little dude, who is with his mom that day), and probably coming over to my parents' house at some point later.
On Friday, Matt, my uncle, my BIL and dad are going shooting. BIL is bringing his new gun. Everyone is very excited. Such Maine guys!
I'm also working on Thanksgiving for the second year in a row. It's really getting me down this year, for some reason! I am more determined than ever to find a new job with a regular schedule and holidays off.
Basically, I trade working Thanksgiving for Christmas off, so DH and I will be celebrating Thanksgiving just the two of us here at our place Wednesday and probably eating leftovers Thursday evening after I get home.
