What are you looking forward to the most?

Re: Favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Poll

  • My grandma's old fashioned donuts which I realize aren't a typical Thanksgiving treat. But they are deliciously dense cake donuts wih lots of nutmeg. I can't wait for Molly to try one!

    Those sound a-mazing.

the only dessert ILs have is pumpkin pie.  Not my fave, but not terrible (my G-ma used to do mince meat.  blech).

  • I'm making apple cheesecake bars again, so those are really yummy. I'm also trying to perfect a chocolate cream pie with a pretzle crust, so there's that. Usually I do some take on pumpkin pie, but my father is bringing that this year, plus an apple pie. I only like my mother's apple pie so I had her make me one a few weeks ago.

We're having a second Thanksgiving on Saturday and I may make a pumpkin roll for that one since H is working Friday and I can't put up any Christmas decorations until he comes home.

     I agree!!

Naylon- my grandmother used to do mince meat too!!!  As a kid I was CONVINCED growing up that there was actual meat in the pie.... joke was on me apparently.

My favorite is my mom's chocolate cream pie :)

  • My mother makes donuts like that. I'm trying to learn her recipe. They're so good that when I asked my cousin what she wanted for payment for the breast pump and other baby stuff she gave me, she said I could pay her in those donuts.
  • Homemade pecan pie. Yum.

  • posting from my phone which, aparently, cannot capitalize.  sorry.  we are going to the inlaws for thanksgivving.  mil will make the same yellow cake with chocolate icing that she makes every time we visit because it is dhs favorite.  verry unthanksgiving.  i prefer pumpkin pie with cool whip.  or maybe some chess pie.  my family has way better food.  i am dreading the stove top stuffing dressing and longing for my aunts oyster dressing.

  • Dh's grandma makes tons of cookies in all kinds of flavors.  I love grazing on those after we eat lunch.

I also always look forward to pumpkin pie.  My stepdad's grandma used to make the.best chocolate cream pie, but she is no longer with us (and my stepdad and mom are divorced so I haven't tried any of the other family's attempts).

  • Pumpkin pie is my fave. I also like pumpkin logs that MIL makes this time of year.
  • Any type of fruit or pumpkin pie, as long as it's not overdone.  Yum!

  • I love me some pumpkin pie! I really love it the next AM for breakfast, ice cold!

  • My sister's homemade apple and pumpkin pies are too legit to quit.

  • My mom does a homemade chocolate pie. So, so good. She is a dessert person, so at her thanksgiving we'll have chocolate and pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake with caramel sauce, and pumpkin roll. My ssil is bringing German chocolate cake. It's a lot, but I'll do my best to try them all. Mom is actually cutting down this year and only doing 20 kinds on Christmas cookies. That's down from 42.
  • Sour cream cake. YUM! It's my grandmother's recipe and my cousins and I will be making it, along with pecan pie and carrot cake, tomorrow night. I can't wait to eat some on Thursday!
