Hey there!

Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself. I have been lurking for a long time and I finally decided to join the nest. I have really enjoyed lurking on this board among others...

I spend a lot of time on the nest because I am a stay at home gf and I've really gotten the whole housework thing down to a science. I have a MA in Education and a teaching credential and have been working as a sub teacher, but subbing sucks so I am waiting until spring to jump back in there.

I don't have any TIP that I can think of, but enjoy this boards fiesty outlook.

Re: Hey there!

  • Haha, you got a master's degree and you're all proud to be a SAHGF because you think working sucks?

Please tell me you're just trolling us.

  • No, I just think that sub teaching sucks. My credential is for teaching 7-12 social studies, but I always get stuck with kindergarten when subbing. Six hours with 35 5 year old kids is close to torture for me.

  • Did you find your BF through sugardaddies.com?

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • You clearly have not lurked enough!  The job market sucks for SS teachers - time to find something else to do.

I came to this realization when I was almost done with my credential, but I went ahead and finished it.  I have been applying for other jobs in my downtime...

  • I'd, uh, recommend trying to do something with your life in the meantime. Gaps in employment aren't going to help you, especially in this economy. If I had to depend on my boyfriend - a person with no legal obligation to me - for my livelihood, I'd be a giant ball of anxiety.

I mean, my job sucks on the regular, but I haven't taken a rain check on dealing with the real world.

    This is my siggy.
  • OP, how exactly did you think this was going to go down?  You know, since you've "lurked for a while".

Also, "awhile" =/= 5 minutes.  YWIA

I thought it was French fries.  WTF is the matter with me?

OP, what the hell is a stay at home girlfriend?  I have never heard of this before.

    I love it.

  • OP, nevermind these wretched biitches. Tell us more about yourself.

    What are your hobbies?

How did you meet your SO? How long have you been dating?

Any furbabies you want to share with us?

  • I get being a SAHM.  I do NOT understand being a SAHW, and CERTAINLY don't get a SAHGF.

It's code for maid/sex slave.  Is your degree from a US institution?  Did your BF order you out of a catalog from Eastern Europe/Asia?

We met in a college class 6 years ago. We have been dating for 3 years. And we are engaged and planning a early 2013 wedding. My brother and two cousins are getting married in 2012, so we pushed ours back a little so my family wouldn't be overwhelmed with weddings.

We have 2 small dogs named Mollie and Roxie.  We also recently adopted a cat.

My hobbies include reading, crafts, shopping, gardening and traveling. I also volunteer at the library with the adult literacy program and tutor students at the high school. And since I took a semester off of subbing I volunteered to take my grandma to doctor appointments and my aunt to her daily dialysis to give my aunts and uncles a break.

I still don't understand the Stay-At-Home-GF part, but to each their own (I guess).

The bolded and underlined is really nice of you. Kudos.

I actually meant the SAHGF part in a sarcastic manner. I didn't go out and get a MA to stay at home. I took a semester off of subbing. I am still employed as a sub, so there is no gap in my employment. And I am working on finding another job, since as a pp has pointed out SS teaching jobs are hard to find. But I don't live in a bustling metropolis (or near one) so a job is hard to find.

Hopefully I am able to express my sarcasm more effectively in the future.
