I can't wait for this!! DH is the engineer for this and he said they can't speed it up any more because some of the stores in the mall refuse to leave or break their leases early even though the mall has pretty much been forcing everyone out. Their plan is to make it like the whole HV shopping center with open air shopping and they hope it will cut down on some of the crime and violence at the mall. I guess the thought is that with open are places everyone is more visible by security.
MrsNDM, I love that idea. I was distraught when they tore down Hunt Valley mall, but I LOVE the Hunt Valley shopping center now. Unlike White Marsh, I actually go there to go shopping in addition to eat and go to the movies.
I think if they do it right and fill it with real shops like Hunt Valley, and not novelty shops that are revolving doors like White Marsh it will be great. The only stores that work well in White Marsh are the ones that people go there specifically for, like AC Moore, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, the theater, etc. It's sad when smaller businesses don't stand a chance.

I thought the Wegmans was going to be built where the Solo cup factory was - not on the mall property. Am I wrong?
You are right. The mall is a separate development.

It's actually all the same umbrella development and the same developer doing it, the entire job includes the mall property as well. They want all of it to open around the same general time so not being able to make improvements on the mall would push back a projected time that they want Wegman's to open.
