My DH is Army. We will be near Frankfurt. How about you guys? I need to get moving on our passports, no fee and tourist. The EFMP paperwork has been a MAJOR PITA. For both LO and me. Ugh. Honestly, I wish we could click our heels and already be there. PCS moves suck, OCONUS PCS moves are so much more challenging. But, I am excited for our three years in Europe!!! Overwhelmed, but excited!LyndseylovesHugh:

I was born and raised in Rochester, NY.
I live in Alexandria, VA, but in early 2012, my DH, our toddler and I are moving to Germany.
My DH is in the military, so we move often. This overseas assignment was a surprise to both of us as there aren't many overseas options for DH's career field and rank. We thought we were headed to Central Virginia. I guess I'd better get crackin' on those passports, huh? What branch in your H in? We are headed to Germany soon too! I just did all the super fun No Fee Passport and EFMP paperwork.

My H is Army too, we will be going to Grafenwoehr. I had never changed my name on my tourist passport after we got married, so I had to do that first and once that came I had to do my no fee. And, I never got a new miltary ID after he commissioned, so they almost did not let me turn in my no fee paperwork because the rank on my ID did not match the rank on his ID, urg. My fault for never doing that, but as soon as he commissioned they sent him almost immediately to BOLC, so I really never had time. And yes, the EFMP was a huge PITA, I can not even imagine having to do all that for me and a little one!
But, even though it has not been the easiest few months paperwork wise, I am so excited!!!
We have had nothing but negative experiences with one of the local EFMP folks here. She made a mess of things two years ago when I had to renew my EFMP paperwork (I am enrolled because of my ADHD)--so much so that, from Iraq, my DH had to get the MTF commander involved. This time around, her "help" has been to our detriment. And, because he has a speech delay and somebody checked the wrong box, our toddler is now enrolled (which we were hoping to avoid seeing as he will test out of services before we move). And, I realized last week that they have my diagnosis coded wrong in their system. Instead of ADHD and depression, it says that I have ADHD and bipolar. We are now working to get that corrected.
It looks like the posts are about 3.5 hours apart. We'll have to GTG once we are both settled. Will you be living on post or in town? We will likely be in town.
Good luck with your move! and here's to a future Nestie GTG!
Wow, that sounds terrible! So far (fingers crossed) the lady we have been dealing with for my EMFP paperwork has been about as helpful as I have encountered in the Army! I actually wish she could do all of our paperwork for the rest of H's career! Of course, nothing has been finalized, so I am sure there is plenty of time for things to go wrong, haha.
We will most likely live in town, we have 3 dogs and you are only allowed 2 in government housing unless you can get an exception, which I am sure is not easy to do. I would probably prefer to live in town anyways, I really want the full European experience. And yes, we do need a GTG!!! That would be great! According to our current orders (which I am sure will change since H is in BOLC right now and there is a good chance they will add more training on while he is there) we should be there around mid April, so maybe over the summer when the weather is nice!
