Thank God Afro Blue FINALLY WENT HOME!
I cannot get over how amazing Penatonix (sp?) is! I love the Dartmouth Aires as well.

Re: Sing-Off 11/21 Spoilers

i'd actually have rathered afro blue make it to the finale instead of urban method. they are TERRIBLE, and so boring. at least afro blue has talented singers.
pentatonix rocks my world...but michael from the dartmouth aires is AMAZING. gah.
My Shopping Blog
completely agree. urban method is NOTHING compared to afro blue. I am rooting for pentatonics.

Definitely agree that Urban Method should have gotten the boot over Afro Blue. But both groups have sucked. And seriously, of the Aires don't win (and they won't, because Pentatonix will - WOOT), Michael better get a recording contract. Dude is amazing and gives me chills every time he opens his mouth. It also helps that he's kind of hot. But he's like, what? 20? Does that make me a cougar? lol
Yup, as far as I'm concerned, Pentatonix SHOULD win. They have been creative with their arrangements, and their execution of the songs has been nearly flawless week after week.
I'll actually stick up for Urban Method this time and say that their "Fever/Hot in Herre" medley was their best performance to date (...best BY FAR). Fever was perfectly matched for Liz's(?) voice, and I really thought their arrangement was GREAT for those songs. I thought it was good enough that even if their second song fell flat that they should stay.
I'm not "glad" that Afro Blue went home, but I was least impressed by their songs yesterday. They were at best "OK" for much of the season for me.
I am glad Afro-Blu is gone. I never liked them. I am cheering for the Aires. I don't know if it is just because they are really good or because of Michael. I like that they have some showmanship and not just singing. I really don't like Urban Method.
Ditto. And Michael from Dartmouth- Holy Hell. That kid sang for his life last night while folded into a human pretzel!
I was okay with the results but I didn't dislike Afro Blue the way everyone else seems to. They had highs and lows but I did like them.
I actually enjoyed all of the groups last night for the first time that I can remember.
Pentatonix is AMAZING. Somehow I just started to reeeally like them in the last 3 weeks or so. Now I totally want them to win.

I agree with everything you said. I got a little nervous about the Aires and Afro Blue singing again, but when I heard the Aires I knew it had to be them.
I'm in the minority I guess. I thought Afro Blue was the best group there. In recent weeks, Pentatonix has become the frontrunner and I think will easily win.
Afro Blue was the most advance group, musically. They were doing some complicated stuff, which was just amazing. Then the judges started criticizing them for being overly complicated. DH and I didn't get that at all, not when we'd rewind to listen over again so we'd catch all the different things they were doing. After that criticism, they simplified their arrangements and toned it down, and the performances after that were really boring. It was a real shame.
I can't stand Urban Method. The Fever song was great, but otherwise, I'm not feeling the love. They have a girl with a good voice and a rapper. And they do the same thing every single time.
I'm also not a huge fan of Dartmouth Aires. This is a singing competition. It's not like America's Got Talent, or whatever the show is where they get a live show. This is for a CD. Michael has a great voice and their performances are fun, but I don't think they're musically very interesting. Take away the stage presence performance and they're just another college boy group with a good lead vocal.
I've literally never posted here before in my life, but I knew there would be discussion about this. I agree with everything posted above so much that I quoted AND bolded it.
You guys are effin' high if you think Urban Method is in anyway better than Afro Blue.
And I totally agree about Dartmouth Aires. I wouldn't pay for their album, but I would give a shitton of money to see Michael on Broadway.
If Pentatonix doesn't win, I'm going to break my TV.
I think the majority of us know that Urban Method have been especially bad the last few weeks (Carrie Underwood song particularly IMO). Afro Blue has just gone downhill. I didn't care for either group, but for some reason Afro Blue really bug me.

Urband Method has improved the past few weeks, actually, and I will 100% give them that credit. But it hasn't been singing wise. Their improvement has been all about showmanship. Their actual vocal quality as a group hasn't increased one iota. I haven't minded them sticking around because I think Mike (?), the rapper, is totally sexy, but in reality, they don't cut it.
Afro Blue has actually IMPROVED the last week or two because they've been given license by the show to start singing their own style of music again. That's my only beef with The Sing Off. And American Idol (when I actually watched it). And every other performance-based reality show on TV. For the sake of good ratings and drama, they force these people to do things that they would never do on their own volition. Why the hell would a group that is mind-blowing at intricate, jazzy songs do a rock and roll song? There is no need for it! Do what you do and excel at it. Afro Blue got raked over the coals for being too intricate and demanding for the average listener, which is complete horse shi!t. My opinion is that Joe Blow should expand their vocabulary and actually listen and appreciate some real music and talent every now and again.
But everyone knows (or should know!) Afro Blue is an amazing jazz group, but if they aren't more well rounded, they aren't going to make it in mainstream music. That's the whole point of the show. To appeal to a wide range of people and hopefully be successful in today's music world. They want the groups to take the different genres and make them their own which Penatonix has done every week (with country, rock, etc) and Afro Blue has not done extremely well. No one would watch the show if every group sang the same type of song that they always have every single week.

I will respectfully disagree with the bolded statement. I know that's the whole point of the show, but people make it in main stream music all the time only doing one thing. Afro Blue wasn't one note.
They did what they did on the show very well. The only time it wasn't amazing was the week they did American Girl. I don't understand people (not you, just a broad term!) saying they did bad a couple weeks. They were told to dumb down their music by the judges, and they did that. And they suffered for that. In Ben Folds' blog about this past week he 100% admits that they were his favorite and his front-runner and he thinks that they did a disservice to America by sending this jazzy group full of actual trained singers home. Which further confirms my conspiracy theory that NBC is who controls who is on or off the show, not the judges. It's the only way Delilah lasted on the show as long as they did and the only way to explain this.
Obviously, I get too worked up about this, too!
