Christmas gifts for owners..

Good afternoon!

With Black Friday around the corner...what is everyone getting their bosses or owners for Christmas?

I just started this 9-5 thing and am kinda clueless of what to get the two owners! Any ideas?

Re: Christmas gifts for owners..

  • We have a no present policy. The owners don't want anyone to feel left out. Last year, everyone brought in baked goods throughout the month, but no actual gifts.

  • Ditto here...there is no official gift giving or baking ritual but usually everyone brings in cookies they made, or goodies from the store. If you really want to extend yourself, just send out a holiday card to everyone!
  • Thank you both! Unfortunately our company is very small, a total of 7 including myself. The owners are in IL, 3 of us are in KY, 1 is in OH, and 1 is in FL. So bringing goodies would be a great plan, but it won't help me this year!  So, I am trying to find something to send back to Chicago for them! It is harder then I thought!
  • My company has an unofficial policy of not gifting up. I work for a small company too, and I would not purchase the owners a gift. I have had a few employees get me a small thank you type gift (chocolates, for instance) and I always felt really strange about it.

But, if you're really set on getting them something, I think a food item is the way to go. It's not too personal, so it won't be weird. Do they like coffee, tea or wine?

  • I agree that food items are best. Seeing that theyre in another state are you close to them? Even from a small company it could be awkward sending the owners gifts. if you do feel inclined I would send a card and a small food item (dont go too crazy or it could come off as brown nosing) or bottle of wine/or nice liquor.
