Buying a plane ticket for 2 year old.
Do you have to buy a full price ticket for a 2 year old now?

Re: Buying a plane ticket for 2 year old.
Yeah, I am pretty sure international carriers tend to have the discount, but American ones don't. Shocker.
Even on International flights?
Nope, not even on international flights. We just paid full price for our son to fly to the UK for Christmas, and are holding dd on our lap because I refused to pay full price for her too (she won't even be 9 months but I am dreading it)
That's really lame.
I'm happy I don't have to fly US carriers.
I'm not saying anything new with 10% off BA ticket prices - it's nearly full fare.
Andrea, will you get bulkhead seats at least, so you can have the extra space?
Did you book it through BA? They are partners so my understanding is if you booked it through BA you would get the 10% discount, even if one leg is AA.
Welsh, we aren't guaranteed the bulkhead, but they have been requested!
Delta definitely does 75% of an adult fare for children (under 13s i think)
I think United does too
for international legs only
They (delta) never have for us to the UK
Yeah, I don't know. We have been told every time we have called that it is the full fare for everyone, regardless of age.
This is what their site says, so it is very unclear:
Travel Within U.S.Delta does not offer discounted infant and child fares within the U.S.
Travel Between Countries
You may find discounted child fares when traveling outside the U.S. or when traveling between certain countries. The price of the ticket will depend on the age of the child. Taxes & fees may also apply to infants held in the adult's lap.2
yea the website is super vague
on this last trip back (when dd was 11 months)
I called reservations to consider what my options were with her seat wise
they said they could do a 75% of the cost of a full fare for the international portion of the flight (Syd to LA) and then full fare for the domestic portion
I chose to just pay the 10% instead and have her on my lap for the int'l portion, and bought her a full fare seat for the domestic
