'Several possible victims have come forward alleging a woman posing as a Florida doctor and promising buttocks enhancement pumped their behinds with a toxic concoction of cement, superglue and flat-tire sealant, state health officials said Tuesday.'
Seriously??? I have a flat bottom, but there is no way in h*ll I'd let a licensed plastic surgeon near mes fesses, much less a back alley wannabe doctor. wtf people! These are the types of idiots who end up on 1000 Ways to Die.
I can go on two tangents from this story:
1. Would you have cosmetic surgery? What would make you consider it?
2. Have you seen that tv show (1000 ways to die)? Familiar with the Darwin awards, anyone? Feel free to share!

Re: Plastic Surgery
I really want LASIK... BUT I am so terrified that I would be the one in a billion people that end up blind (statistic as totally made up).
As for other cosmetic surgeries, I would be afraid of dying....and for what? MyBlue wanted a new as$ and died on the operating table? no thx I feel like my dead self would be embarASSed that I went out that way.I might be slightly paranoid about bad outcomes, but I'd rather not risk it
1. I guess-- I don't per se have a problem with PS, but it's definitely not a priority with my/our $. If I had a disfiguring accident, I'd definitely do it, even if we had pay. If I came into to crazy excessive wealth (not likely), after I did all the necessary things we'd want to do (help friends/family, travel, buy nifty homes all over the world, donate to worthy causes, go to school indefinitely, etc), why not tighten up the ol' belly?!
2. Haven't seen that show. But I have read Darwin awards (not recently though).
I had plastic surgery--breast reduction when I was 14. I am still glad I did it. I would never get any kind of implants though unless I had some part actually missing (like I had to get a mastectomy or something).
Have you guys seen this woman?
I was meaning more cosmetic surgery than plastic surgery in general, so reconstructive surgeries aren't really what I meant. I mean purely cosmetic, no real medical need/missing parts, type surgeries. I count LASIK as cosmetic because my contacts fix my vision problem so I don't have a medical need to get it done.
I have no problem with plastic surgery. I probably won't have anything done to my face, but depending on our financial situation after we have our last kiddo, I would consider breast augmentation/lift.

I had to have reconstructive surgery (4 of them) after a car accident. After that experience - no I would not have plastic surgery. Not because I have anything against it. Before the accident I would probably have chosen to do it myself, but now that I know how much pain is involved there is no way I'd willingly sign up for that.
I was supposed to have a breast reduction back in 2004 but I ended up going to Australia for grad school and it just didn't happen. I have now decided that I will wait until I'm finished having children and then go for a reduction/lift...whatever they need!
Other than that I wouldn't do anything else...
I think this goes without saying, but I'll say it anyways. The only way I'd ever have cosmetic surgery done is if I had enough money to do it. I would never do it unless house/car/student loans/credit cards etc are all paid off.
I would have a breast reduction, I honestly do have back problems because of them. I would also have my stomach stapled or something to help me lose weight. I know that this train of thought is probably way wrong, but I think that if I got the weight off it would be easier to keep off. I also have this rather embarrassing patch of fine hair that grows on my neck. It is not visible from far away, but when you're close up you can kind of see it, especially if I lean my head back. I would love to have laser hair removal done on that.

I'm probably going to sound super vain... After I am finished having kids, if my stomach skin is saggy I will probably get it fixed. I have always worked out consistently and eaten a reasonable enough diet to have a really nice stomach and I want it to look the same way after I am finished having kids. My mom's went back to normal, so I'm hopeful, but H and I have already discussed me getting it 'fixed' if it gets messed up. I don't have any desire for plastic surgery other than that.
Also, I am totally amused by the Darwin awards.

is LASIK really considered a cosmetic surgery?? I had it done, but I needed it unlike that woman needing a new butt.
I don't think I'd get cosmetic surgery. Not sure though. We'll see after I'm done having kids how I feel about this question.
lol I don't consider it a 'need' for me because my glasses/contacts correct my vision. So I consider it cosmetic but that is probably because I'm just too chicken to ever follow through with it so I make up excuses
Since my contacts/glasses don't bother me, then it would mainly be for convenience or looks and not for a medical need, thus cosmetic. I understand why it wouldn't be cosmetic for other people though.
I had laser eye surgery (not lasik) and wouldn't consider that cosmetic, especially as I had issues with my contacts.
I would consider getting my breasts & stomach whatever they need doing to after having kids but apart from that or some other form of reconstructive surgery, I wouldn't.
ETA: Have you seen the fake doc's arse? I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for her "victims" considering they were stupid enough to:
1. not verify credentials and hello:
2. not start running for their lives when they saw her!!!
ETA again, here it is:
Hear hear!
oh.my.god. I had not seen any photos. seriously????? WTF
I fully intend to get a breast augmentation/lift after I have kids.
I also am planning on getting a procedure in the near future--related to the cyst I mentioned over the summer. It's covered by insurance so it really is necessary and not cosmetic.
I don't even know what to say to that picture!
I've thought about Lasik too but I'm so terrified of it going wrong! Still considering it though... I hate my glasses. I've considered breast reduction too as it really is uncomfortable. I think DH would veto that one though ;-)

I can still see without my glasses on. It's just pretty blurry and I can't make things out from really far away (astigmatism). If it got to the point that I honestly couldn't see anything without my glasses on I would totally consider laser eye surgery an essential.
Just think about what would happen in a Zombie Apocalypse if you can't see without glasses and they get broken!!!! ; )

I'm not against getting a small facelift, lipo or breast lift when I'm older. For now, I wouldn't get anything done.
Every day I see ladies who have gone too far with plastic surgery and they must all have the same surgeon as they all look the same: big lips, surprised look, huge boobs and barbie nose. Yuck.
