Need recommendation near APG
My BFF might move and needs recs for good town, she has two little girls and her DH is a civilian contractor that would work on base. Thanks
ETA: they would probably rent at first so let me know if the town is good for renting, buying or both. Thanks again.

Re: Need recommendation near APG
There are areas of Aberdeen that are good, areas that aren't so good. I'm in one of the good areas - a town house development in Riverside that's not far from the intersection of Route 7 and 543. It's 10 minutes to APG in traffic, 3 minutes to I-95, 15 minutes to Bel Air (restaurants, shopping). The elementary school I'm zoned for is a good one and the area is nice.
Abingdon and Bel Air are also great.
ETA: My neighborhood has quite a few houses up for rent. It's common thanks to a combination of the housing market and the fact that it's a desirable area for those based on APG. I'm not sure about Abingdon and Bel Air.
Will he be working on the north side (Aberdeen) or the south side (Edgewood)? The time distance between the 2 sides is not huge, but it could play a factor in determining where to live.
I live in the White Marsh area (Baltimore county) and it takes me ~15 minutes to get to work on the Edgewood. DH commutes to Aberdeen and it takes 30-35 minutes.
That's the Aberdeen side.
The suggestions LoveLossHopeRepeat provided are close. Cecil County is also pretty close and affordable. I don't have any recommendations though, sorry.
Are they coming down from NJ? I did almost 7 months ago and the new complex for the those that left Ft. Monmouth and moved to APG is on Combat Drive. Anyway, we bought in Abingdon and really like it there. Our commute is about 20-25 minutes. We are north of Singer Road so our daughter will go to the Bel Air schools. And we love being close to everything that we need.
When we were looking down here back in March/April for a house, our realtor gave us a list of rentals and they were mostly townhomes.
