Early dismissal from work at 2:00 pm...
...everyone else I know has early dismissal at noon today. Hmmmm.... I think the problem is that in the arts, lots of folks show up at work at 10 or 10:30 so a noon dismissal doesn't make sense. I get to work (well, today and Friday I'm teleworking, so I log on...) at 8:00 am.
Oh well, it's a slow day. I guess I'll catch up on the industry blog/website reading I never have time for!
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
Re: Early dismissal from work at 2:00 pm...
I wish my agency would do that. On the days when we know ahead of time that we'll be released early, I make no effort to get to work right at 8:00 since I know so many people roll in at 10:30.
Must stick close to my computer to monitor things - what else can I do to kill time... maybe shop online?
Look for commuter bags?? Or did you find one? I liked the ideas you were getting last night.
"What is a week-end?"
YES - loved all of the ideas I got!!!
You should feel lucky about 2 - we're here until 3:30. I'm hoping my drive home will be a breeze since everyone else will be long gone...
ETA: I hope that didn't come across as snarky in your general direction, Artslvr. I'm just a wee bit bitter about 3:30 :P
No offense taken!
It's so funny how employers in this country hold on for dear life to this particular day instead of just giving the day off. I'm just thinking of other countries where employees have 4 or 6 or 8 weeks off a year on the regular, and here's it's like "nooo - we MUST have poeple be PRODUCTIVE as MUCH as POSSIBLE!" Because really, is anyone doing anything that productive today?
Same with Friday. I'm not complaining becuase as a fed I get Veteran's Day off which I realize most people don't have - it's just funny that we don't get Friday off. I'm going to be sooo productive on Friday. Not.
The Friday after Thanksgiving is the one holiday we *do* get around here. We work Veteran's Day and a handful of other gov't holidays.
And sadly, now through January is my busy season, so I have actually been working all day. Not that my brain is in the game this afternoon, though!
