XP: Our MO is dropping the ball

He was awesome in the beginning of the process, getting us a speedy prequalification and such. However, since we are trying to buy this house, he's lacking in communication. He had told us that our file was sent out the the underwriter as of this past Monday and the process should take 1-3 days. We have yet to hear anything directly from him, even with a few emails and phone messages. He told us he would give us an update by the end of the day today. Once 5pm rolled around and no word from him, we called out REA who got in contact with him. Turns out our file still hasn't been sent to the underwriter due to some info needed from the Condo association. We've already pushed back closing until the end of the month last week, but now it looks like it may be December if things don't get moving along a little faster here. And if that's the case, then we'll have lost our buyer for our trailer, which will essentially put us SOL. We'll lose our buyer, and in turn, lose our new house. Ugh!

So at this point, would you give the corporate office of our mortgage company a call? We're becoming less and less satisfied with MO due to his lack of communication.

Oh, and there was also a comment from MO to REA along the lines of "it wouldn't hurt for them (us) to start looking at other houses again."

  • I would absolutely complain.  When our loan officer wasn't giving us the type of response we expected we complained and were clear that we would take our business elsewhere.  Our loan was reassigned and we had no more problems.
  • I would complain as well. This is affectig peoples lives between the people your buying from and the people you are selling to. To me, that justifies a call to corporate as soon as you can.Perhaps this guy is new and missed a step and he still needs more training or he's been on the job for a while and is getting lazy - whatever the reason, he needs to communicate with you and I wouldn't feel bad for a second. It's nothing personal, just business.

  • If the loan officer doesn't get the  loan closed, they don't get paid. They should be on the underwriters ass. The underwriter gets paid regardless, the loan officer is commissioned based like a realtor.
