Have We Discussed Thanksgiving Day Plans?
What's everyone doing to celebrate? Anyone have any yummy recipes to share?
Re: Have We Discussed Thanksgiving Day Plans?
Everything will be at our house, DH and I, MIL, FIL, nephews, SIL and her BFF. That's all, and no I didn't forget the SIL whose children will be at our house for Thanksgiving... ::rolls eyes::
MIL does most of the cooking, and I decorate for the holidays and help out with some random cooking things. I probably should start paying more attention to what she does because it's yummy!
my read shelf:
Sam got sick yesterday and my sister told us not to come to MA. My uncle had emergency bypass surgery on Monday, so that portion of the family cancelled their trip to MA too.
So my aunt who was looking forward to enjoying a manicure and being a guest had to postpone her nails and figure out dinner for 13 of us with three days notice. As everyone involved either works FT or was at the hospital for the last five days, it's a bit thrown together. I offered to make a box mix of trader joes corn bread
I am taking J to the MACY'S THANKSGIVING PARADE in NYC:) I am so excited!!
Then meeting DH and C at his aunt's house for dinner at 3.
my read shelf:
My Mom came up last night and I'll be making Thanksgiving breakfast here. We'll drop her off in Westchester after and on the way up stop in Rockland for dinner with my Dad.
I'll be staying there overnight with the baby since DH is working overnight at the Commons for Black Friday. Poor guy, I'll have 4 extra helping hands and he'll be dealing with degenerates (bwahaha, last week he caught some kids stealing there and they called him a f-ing redneck. He's so not in the mood for this shift)
Thanksgiving this year is at DH's Grandparent's house. His Grandma does the turkey and we all split up and bring the rest.
I am making: String bean casserole, stuffing, yam balls, and chocolate cream pie
Love my DH's family with the exception of his bro and SIL. I feel like my holidays are tainted if I spend it with them.. oh well. Looking forward to our traditions of the night before thanksgiving and thanksgiving itself. Starting to share those with LB is becoming more and more exciting.
there will be 6 kids - and i don't think any of us want to take that into a restaurant! it's fine - we're the type of family that can make do - we don't need fancy appetizers - it'll be a regular dinner. i should bring some wine - i bet most of us could use that!
Going to the BIL's house. MIL will be there, which will mean everyone will stare at whatever is on the TV or playing with my nephew because we're all uncomfortable.
BIL decided to have dinner late (5 p.m.) which kinda sucks, because I'm doing an "eat and run" thing and I hate being that type of person, but my son has to go into work Thanksgiving night and he doesn't drive yet so I'm taking him to work.

Have a great holiday, everyone!
My parents are hosting down in lower Westchester. DH left for work at 5am today and is working a double shift, sleeping at his precinct, then has the parade detail in the morning. He is supposed to be done by 1pm tomorrow, fingers crossed. I'll be going to my mom's with Chloe around noon, H will take the train there and meet us. I made sugar cookies in Thanksgiving cut-out shapes and making candied butternut squash today.
Friday C and I are meeting my best friend for lunch. I'm working Saturday, and Sunday we're going to MIL's in Queens for a late Thanksgiving/great-Grandpa's birthday lunch.
AANNNDD the very reason I cant tolerate BIL and SIL as I stated above was just re-proven.
SIL just called everyone to tell her that she is bringing her mother and her brother as well. Not only that, but he is an RA in LI and couldnt find a place for 2 of his residents so they are coming with him and her mother is bringing a woman from her complex.
OK, way to tell us the day before, after all the food is bought and half is cooked that there will be 5 extra people! I am all for charity and an open home/heart for the holidays but it is BS like this that occurs constantly that makes me want to fist-bump them in the face.
I will be going to my parents house. I wanted to host it this year, but havent finished unpacking the kitchen yet so that was a no go.
DH is working... So we are 15 people. My mom, dad, sister, BIL, Nephew, grandma, grandpa, Uncle, his wife and his mil. Also my MIL, FIL, Zia, SIL and BIL.
