Was anyone out there in the madness? I've been doing online shopping last night and this morning (Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, Amazon, Target) and I think I saved about the same amount without dealing with the crowds, because I got free shipping for all those orders. I am going to go to Joann's fabrics to get some fabric and craft supplies!
And thanks everyone for their input about the homemade gifts, I am still going to do alot of baking and candles (only for the people I KNOW like those scents). The pj pants I made a sample for myself and I'm going to run them through the wash and see how they stand up and fit before I decide about those. The bags I am definitely going to stick with, they look so cute!
Re: Did you brave the crowds?
Nope, I am home. After hosting our first Thanksgiving, we were in bed before 11pm! It went great though, and was lot of fun! Later on, we'll have leftovers for dinner and then maybe go to an outdoor outlet mall because the weather is so nice and we'll check out some shopping. I honestly don't even have an idea of what I need, so I will probably not be buying anything. I just want to walk around.
I just saw on the news, that someone sprayed the crowd of shoppers with pepper spray in CA, shots broke out in NC, and people were pushing and shoving at Walmart. Stories like this make me so sad
This is NOT the spirit of the season!!!! UGH sometimes I hate this time of year because some people are so greedy and rude to each other.
Danielle, I think I'm totally stealing your idea of the frosted glasses. I might make small vases for everyone...hmmm...
Not I! Shaun had to work until midnight last night and he heard quite a few stories from customers. Apparently by a little after 10 last night the Walmart in our town was at capacity and they were only letting people in after people exited. Craziness!!
I had a doctor's appointment this morning so we made a few stops. Joanns was busy! Cutting 57 but the number to be taken was 80! I was not going to wait. Figured I'd stop on my way home.
Good luck to all those shopping today!

Not I either! We hosted lunch yesterday and took it easy after people left by 5pm or so. I am planning on going yarn shopping tomorrow am to AC Moore b/c I have a 25% off total purchase coupon. Today I don't think I'm going anywhere!
April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
Nope, although I drove by a Walmart and Toys R' Us on the way home my sister's house at 10:30 last night, and they both looked crazy. I think I would rather stick pins in my eyes than wait in line for hours and deal with crowds, especially when you can get similar deals online. I did do the early morning thing with my sister about 10 years ago before it was too bad, and that was fun, but I feel like it's gotten out of control now.
I do need a new laptop, so if I have been keeping an eye out for online deals. I went out to Staples this afternoon when it was quieter and they had a really good deal on one I like but they were out of it. So, I came home and ordered it online
My BFF and I went this afternoon for a few hours. She had to work until 11:30 this morning, so I met her at her place. We had lunch around noon, then started shopping. By the time we got to the stores, most of the bigger crowds had died down. We found some good deals and did not have to wait in any lines. Surprisingly, Walmart and Target were not too bad this afternoon. I can happily say that I am about halfway done now.
Now, I have to start wrapping after we get the tree up. Then I need to also work on DHs birthday gift since his bday is 10 days after Christmas.
I feel your pain with the birthday thing, December is crazy in our house, my birthday is 10 days BEFORE Christmas, and DH's birthday is 3 days before mine!

I went out and I couldn't believe how dead it was. I went out at about 5am to Target, Kohls, Home Depot, and a few other local places. There were less people than on a normal day!
I got some great deals which I am excited about. Me and my Brother bought a computer for my parents for Christmas because theirs is Ancient, and it was super cheap.
Now on to cyber Monday tomorrow!
I was an online shopper again this year. We usually save up for one big appliance and buy it Thanksgiving weekend online (big screen TV, then washer and dryer, etc).
I bought a few things on Amazon cause they were having great sales (Disney Blu Rays for $8!). I also got a bigger coffee pot for my house. We only had a four cup, and when people come over that is clearly not enough. I got a 12 cup on Amazon for like $15?
I also have to say that I did get my Dyson Animal that I wanted! : ) It was $170 off! Score!!!!
