Well, how was it???

My Friendsgiving was lovely! My friend made a delicious dinner, we all drank too much wine, and the entire crew napped on the couch/floor for about an hour after the meal.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Re: Well, how was it???

  • Ours was great. We're still black Friday shopping and we're doing thanksgiving part 2 tomorrow. Yay thanksgiving!
  • Ours was great. Usually I am rushing around helping my mom but it was so nice just to relax Thnksgiving morning. We ate at the ILs and then came home and relaxed. DH and I commented that we didn't really know what to do with ourselves.

  • lol We survived. My older relatives are getting BOSSY! My mom was a total narc and told on her niece when the niece almost dropped the gravy boat out of the cupboard. People sat in the wrong place and my uncle practically yelled at them (but he kind of yells all the time because he just got cochlear implants). H did his best to be the comedic relief and I was the drama-stopper.

The food was yummy, as usual. Otherwise, glad to have done it, but glad it's over. Having Friendsgiving on Saturday and will be eating yummy Italian food and lots of wine!

  • E decided that she thinks looking around is cool now and didn't sleep well the night before and wouldn't nap that morning. H tried to let me sleep in and give a bottle. She is going through the bottle rejection phase so she just screamed for 10 minutes. So much for more sleep. Then I had to go to Thanksgiving at the IL's and hear about how someone's new baby sleeps 10-7 and wakes up once and sometimes sleeps 6-7 hours.

The positive was that I didn't gain weight. :)

  • It actually went really well!  We had DH's parents and sister over and everyone was really cordial and it wasn't all that uncomfortable at all.  I cooked everything which makes me super happy and it all turned out really well (according to DH).  SD has been here since Wednesday and I won't lie, I am excited to send her back to her mother's so I can sit and do nothing.  We did put up our hot pink xmas tree last night and bought a few more ornaments today - I am *trying* to get into the shitastic xmas spirit.

I tried to invite my parents over last night and they declined, no doubt because SD is here and if they ignore her, then they can pretend like I married someone without a child. Lord, have mercy!

  • Not bad at all. We had Thanksgiving lunch with my folks and their international students, who were both really lovely people. That was followed by Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws. My MIL was feeling really terrible (I suspect she's starting to get emphysema, as she's a long-time smoker and constantly ill) but she still powered through. I probably would have just cancelled in her shoes.

my 8 month old still wakes a ton at night.  I am totally jealous of people who have kids to STTN early (though my kids are really good sleepers once they hit about 12 months)

  • it was okay.  I just went to my parents house and we ate and talked and it wasn't as bad as I anticipated.  The bigs stayed at my parents and I came home and chatted on the phone with a girlfriend and sorted through all the kids toys and have some big boxes full to donate now.

  • Ours was really good!  We started out at my in-laws' (where everyone in DH's family actually arrived on time--a miracle!) and had a good time there.  G did really well with the crowd and was in a good mood all day even though his naps were practically non-existant.  DH's grandma was in a mood, but we tried to ignore that Lol.  I did get a little stabby when DH's aunt (who NO ONE likes because she's very, very...odd) asked me if I was working or if my job now was to take care of G and DH.  Umm, what?  I replied that my "JOBS are taking care of G, my husband, AND teaching".  The way she worded it made it sound like a person can either take care of their family or work--not both.  And I hate when people assume that birthing a child = quitting your job.  She annoys me.  Other than that, we had a good time :).

We went to my mom and step-dad's that afternoon and stayed until about 7:00 or so.  It was just us, my mom, step-dad, and my sister.  Very low key and much quieter than our morning stop!  We just ate, talked, and watched football.  Good times!

  • We did Thanksgiving in Texas with my family. It was short and sweet, and most of my dad's extended family was able to attend. Not bad at all! We got back to OKC on Friday about 4 p.m. and frantically unpacked/cleaned/cooked for our friend get together last night.

  • We spent Thanksgiving day hiking in Zion National Park in Utah. We started the day by seeing a bunch of wild turkeys near the parking lot! We ate a late (7:30pm) Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant on the ranch where we were staying. The food was good, but it wasn't quite the same as having it at home.

  • Ours was great! We spent half the day at my parents house and the rest of the day at H's brother's house. It was relaxing and we got to spend a lot of time with family.
