So, I'm in charge of booking the hotel for our upcoming NYC trip and I've totally dropped the ball on this. There are just SO many hotels and I'm not familiar with the area, having never been there. It's kind of overwhelming since there are just SO many! Here are the things we are planning to do: Ice skating at Rockefeller Center, 9/11 memorial, statue of liberty, American Girls Store, Serendipty, broadway show at New Amsterdam Theatre, Central Park.So where would be a good place that would be near-ish to some of those places?Somewhere in the $300 a night range. Thanks in advance for any recs you could offer...I'm desperate!

Re: NYC Hotel Rec
The last time we went, ages ago, we stayed at the Belvedere. It is a smaller hotel - the rooms were super small. But it was a good location. DH did priceline to get something around $200, in December.
I've heard really good things about the new Marriott Marquis. I would suggest something in the Time Square area, but you don't really have to be on the square. It is pretty easy to get around in NY - esp if you're ok with the subway during the day.
I'd really just start with Expedia and start by narrowing down your price range and go from there. If you stay around the park or close to Times Square you should be ok.
We stayed at the Belvedere in 2007. I agree with Kreeper - good location, small rooms but we were never in the room for long. We booked through Expedia and got a good price as well.
We stay at the Milford Plaza every year. Not fancy-schmancy, but nice, clean, and great prices. Plus it is pretty convenient to everything and has a subway right next to it.
