Sectionals?

Do you have one? Do you like it? Any advice?

Lance and I went furniture shopping a couple months ago for new couches on our main level and couldn't find anything we could agree on. So now we're thinking that instead of moving our upstairs stuff downstairs, we'll just get a sectional for downstairs. We have to order something tomorrow to take advantage of the black Friday sale (yay!!) and for it to be in before Wyatt's birthday, which is our deadline for having the basement done.

Re: Sectionals?

  • We don't have one, but I want one for our basement. I love the idea of having the chaise lounge part for watching movies and stuff!

  • That's kind of why I want one. The one I have 'picked out' has one, but I'm nervous it won't fit down the stairs... my in laws had to cut the arm off of one of their couches at one time to fit it down there. We have to measure yet.

  • Believe it or not, we bought ours from Costco. We've always wanted one for our living room, but they're a little pricey and we could never agree on one. My MIL happen to find one there for a great pice too. Not exactly the best quality, but we figured with kids, they're bound to get dirty, etc. Once they get older, we'll buy a nicer set.

I think we paid $800 for a 6 piece sectional- I love that we can arrange and rearrange it as much as we want. We sold our old couches on Craigslist for $500, so basically it only cost us $300 for the sectional :)

That was going to be my one piece of advice. I've heard so many horror stories about people who didn't measure their stairwell in order to get the sectional down there. I love sectionals, but sometimes getting them down stairwells is impossible. Note to self: When we build a house in a few years, make sure the basement had a sliding door. Smile
