COP and other who have had at-work daycare

I have applied for a corporate position with Rooms-To-Go (working at the same Location with Luis, but seperate from him.)  It would be a M-R or T-Fschedule (4x10).  While I have a foot in the door with Luis working there and we know a lot of people who work in the corporate side, this si obviously no gaurantee of a job.

One benefit (other than the free coroporate gym! Saaa-weet!) is on-campus daycare.  Can anyone chime in with their experience?  Is it usually free, or really really cheap?  I would love having the girls that close and not having to worry about going somewhere different before/after work to deliver/pick up kids.

Plus, the job is in Seffner, so if I got it I WOULD BE BACK IN TAMPA.  Holygawd, I would be able to breathe again.

  • It is $700/month for me to put Zoe in daycare at my job. Apparently that is a discount! Yikes!

  • Because of our 12 hour schedules, they are long. I think it is at least 6:30am-7:30pm, if I remember correctly. Perfect for our shifts! I know a lot of daycares aren't open that late.

yes, or that early.  I would like a weekend daycare, but haven't looked into it bc grandma is so excited to do it.

  • I don't have any personal experience with on site daycare, but a friend had his son in the one at Publix corporate offices.  It was more expensive than a regular daycare, but they loved it because it was on site and the people were really great.  I guess I'd have to weigh the pros and cons!  Good luck with it!

Yeah, I paid over twice as much as that when DS was in daycare where I worked.  So, definitely not cheaper.  Then again, the center itself wasn't exactly affiliated with or subsidized by my employer.  What I paid was on par with the market rate for day care in the DC area, but it might be different for you at Rooms-to-Go, Marissa.  Maybe R2G subsidizes their center.

As for the convenience factor, it was really wonderful having my little guy so close by.  Especially when he was tiny and I could stop down to nurse him during the day.  Even now, we live close enough to work that I can stop home at lunch to see my little guy if I want.  Even just having that option makes going to work much easier.
