Good OBGYN Recommendations
Hello,
I am looking for a new OBGYN and wondered if anyone had any good recommendations. My husband and I aren't trying for a baby yet, but hopefully we will be in the near future, so I want to find someone who I feel comfortable with! I live in Grand Rapids and would really like to have someone affiliated with Spectrum/Butterworth Hospital, but I am open to other options as well. Let me know if anyone has any good recommendations. I really appreciate it!
Thanks,
Jessica
Re: Good OBGYN Recommendations
I think we might go to the same office
I like Dr. Federico at Specturm Ob/Gyn on Lake Michigan. He's a bit older, but has great personality and is super friendly and knowledgable. I'll gladly see any of the Dr.'s at that office except one (I saw them all when I was pg), but I can't remember her name. She was older and had zero personality and seemed annoyed I was there. I really like the NP's there too. Janet Mitchell is awesome.
Yes, that is the office. Wasn't sure on how or if names are used on the boards or if it is by PM.
Dr. Federico and Dr. Leary are the two doctors I have most affiliation with there. I know most of the docs, from my pregnancy, and there are two that I would never recommend.
Dr. Federico, like said before, is older, and sometimes considered "old school" to some. I really, really like him. He was my first OB/GYN once I had to stop seeing the Nurse Practioners, due to major medical issues. He makes sure that you understand what is happening before he leaves the room, and he tries to make things clear and has made me repeat what he says in my own words, to be sure I understand what is going on. Because of the complexity of my issues, he transfered me to Dr. Leary, because of her expertise in the DaVinci robot surgery and also to get a new point of view on my issues. I still see him for my yearlies though.
Dr. Leary has grown on me over the last year. She has gone above and beyond what a doctor normally would do for me. She has been wonderful, though at first I wasn't too sure about her. But I highly recommend her also. She is "younger" and has never made me feel like I had to try something or had to have surgery - like some docs seem to make you feel like.
I agree Janet is awesome also, as is Kristy Booth!!
If you want to know the names of the ones I didn't personally like PM me. (one of them I know a few people who say that one of the is wonderful - I guess it depends on personality, like most doctors are).
A popular doctor's office is in the Women's Center at 196 and College. I see Dr. Michelle Klyn, but I know at least one other person here has seen her partner Dr. Andrea Wolfe. There are other doctors in the practice besides just these 2.
I love Dr. Klyn. I've seen her for my yearly check-ups, as well as my pregnancy and delivery of my son. She's very easy to talk to and so nice. I don't have any complaints. I delivered at Butterworth.
