Who is cooking Thanksgiving today?

I got a chicken in the oven. Yesterday, I was so lazy that I thought about skipping Thanksgiving this year. But I got off my lazy bum and made an apple pie last night. Since it came out great, I decided to go all out today and I made some biscuits this morning. And I am going to make some mashed potatoes and green beans too. Plus, I have Christmas music in the background and I am thinking about decorating the house today.

So who is baking today? Anybody in the holiday spirit?

  • There was no Thanksgiving for me this year. I've put up the tree though I haven't decorated it yet. I was planning to do that today but got sidetracked. I'll do it later this week.

  • I'm hosting a couple of friends this evening. Doing a chicken, some cranberry sauce (first time trying it), stuffing, carrots, maybe green beans, mashed potatoes...

Then we are having pumpkin bread and probably some other dessert--maybe a black cherry pie. I haven't decided yet.

Tomorrow, I am going to another Thanksgiving. I am bringing banana bread and spongecake (maybe with some of the cranberry sauce, depending on how I do it, or a cranberry drizzle or something).

I am a little nervous about making everything because the oven is new to me and not as intuitive as I would like, but I plan on enjoying myself anyway.

  • We had ours today and I am stuffed.  we had turkey, sweet potato casserole, green beans, spinach tartlets, mashed potatos  cranberry muffins and pumpkin cheesecake.  Yay, for leftovers can't wait for those tomorrow.

  • I'm baking!!! we are doing thanksgiving and I just put a turkey in the oven :) I'm totally  in the spirit and getting excited for the christmas markets and winter festivities!!
  • Late to the Thanksgiving party, because I was doing mine yesterday.  I had white & dark meat turkey roasts, cornbread dressing, baked spinach (a crustless spinach quiche with parmesan cheese), bakery croissants with honey butter, cranberry sauce, and pickles.  For dessert I did a pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream.

The party was a success.  We had my inlaws and another couple over.  My MIL told the other couple that she really loves coming to dinner at my house because it's always different, and it's always good.  The husband of the other couple kept repeating after dessert "I can't believe I actually ate pumpkin pie, with whipped cream!"  He was really surprised at home much he enjoyed the uniquely American things.

The party was a great success and I am so glad I did it.
