We got FIL a flat screen TV for xmas, since he is pretty much stuck in front of the TV all day every day, and he had a 27" tube TV.
We hooked it up yesterday for the VT/UVA game, and because there is a 30 day return policy with Amazon if you don't like it, so we want to give him time test it out.
He has Dish Network. The TV picture is better than his old TV, but it is not high definition. My understanding is that the channel has to be broadcast in HD in order for the picture to really be HD. In his case, his Dish box is YEARS old. Am I correct in assuming that he needs to upgrade his box to an HD box in order to receive HD channels? Anyone know about this?
Re: HD television/Dish/DirectTV-anyone know?
I don't have Dish Network, but with both cable companies I've had, you need to get an HD box and pay for an HD cable package.
Perfect, I will hve him call Dish tomorrow.
Thanks girls!
