UK/Europe ladies - amazon.co.uk ?

Apparently, amazon.co.uk now has free super saver shipping to the EU (maybe this is old news, but I just found out about it!). I was thinking about buying an xmas present for DH there, it would qualify for free shipping so that would be great! But when I went to log in, I wasn't sure what to do. I have an amazon.com account that I use my US credit card with, and ship to my parents or sister's address. Should I log in with that email account, and then just add another credit card and address? Or will that mess up all my US purchases? I just bought a Kindle so I don't want amazon.com to start thinking I'm not in the US and giving me problems or something.

So I should create a new account using another email, right? Or do you guys use one account for .com and .co.uk purchases?

ETA: also, if I buy a DVD from amazon.co.uk, it will work here in Sweden, right? It's the same region, but I've never done it, haha. I don't usually shop on line, so pardon my stupid questions. I'm trying to get with the times here :-)

Re: UK/Europe ladies - amazon.co.uk ?

  • Hi,

I have a million addresses on my regular amazon account (mine, my work, DH's work, my mom's, my dad's, my brothers... i'm a loyal amazon customer!). i log in the same way and just choose which one to ship to. you can ship anywhere in the world (so i could buy something on amazon.co.uk to send to my mom if i wanted) so it doesn't really matter. shipping address and billing address are separate too.

and you can always switch your location on your kindle independently of anything so it will all be fine, promise!

  • You already have your answer, but I also wanted to echo what Pitt said.  I have multiple shipping and billing addresses with different credit cards all attached to the one Amazon account (I use both .com and .co.uk).  I've never had any problems, and I also have my Kindle set to the US store.

    Have fun with the shopping!

  • I'm not sure about the address as I only have an amazon.co.uk account, but I have purchased dvds from them and they work here in France.
  • I use .co.uk wuith my non UK card and have multiple addresses in UK, Europe & Australia saved on there. Never had issues with UK dvds here either.

  • Thanks guys!!

  • I love amazon.co.uk - used to pay an arm and a leg to have books shipped to me from amazon.com, then used Dutch equivalents (bol.com) a few times but they are so much more expensive than amazon it is not funny. So now I get pretty much all of my books, CDs and a lot of gifts on amazon.co.uk. As for shipping, for some things shipping to the EU is free for some not if I am correct.
