They only go to size 36D?? Even online. WTF.
Re: Gap Bras
If you find a comfortable and supportive bra without underwire, please share!! It's so frustrating that most cute/comfy bras don't come in larger cup sizes
Today when I went to get candles at Walmart (power's out), I saw that "Ahh Bra" from the infomercials and almost bought one, lol.
I've heard Wacoal bras are good for generously endowed ladies.
(I have no personal experience, as I am a B cup and buy bras off the sale rack at Marshalls.)
Yeah, most stores only go to something like that, even online. I am of the large-chested-but-smaller-backed variety, and if you need something bigger than "normal," (That is, small-ish around and large in the front - you shouldn't have trouble if you also need large-ish around.) you're best to order it online. Lady Grace in Portland has a super-limited supply, and they can order lots of things that come in larger sizes, but I figure I can just order it myself. There are several brands that go into DD, DDD, and so on - check figleaves.com, barenecessities.com, etc.
The best brand I've found (for consistent sizing, price, quality) is Wacoal. Just like with any brand, there are some hits and some misses between styles. With every brand I've seen, the further you get outside of the "normal" range, the more the selection of different styles drops - even Wacoal doesn't make every bra available in every size. Just be prepared to spend more than you would at Gap or VS or Target - buying new bras is definitely something I have to plan ahead for and look for sales/eBates/coupon codes.
I'm quite the pro at shopping for bras that come in a wider range of sizes - let me know if you have particular questions. I swear I've tried them all - bras, online retailers, having bras altered/tailored, you name it.
Also, I'm terrified that if/when I have a kid, I'm going to come out of the whole experience wearing a bra that requires some sort of feat of engineering.
