I hope everyone had as awesome of a weekend as I did! It was so great to be off work for 5 days in a row! I took off work on Wednesday so that I could do prep work for cooking on Thursday and get the house clean. Thanksgiving was awesome, the dinner turned out to be pretty amazing. I was pretty pleased with myself (even though I was only cooking for 4 people). I sent my MIL home with two recipes, which I take as a huge compliment. Friday we did Black Friday shopping and got some great stuff! Saturday the IL's left and DH and I watched Michigan beat OSU in football and then had a date night. Yesterday we just lounged around the house and did some cleaning. It was great!!!
How was everyone else's weekend?
Re: Weekend Recap
Sounds like you had a great weekend, Maggie.
Ours was pretty low key. DH was sick all weekend and I was fighting it. We went to my dad's house for Thanksgiving. It was quiet and nice. Saturday my brother had a housewarming party. The rest of the time we spent at home battling illnesses. I did a lot of online Christmas shopping. My co-workers are going to think I've gone crazy whent he packages start rolling in. To be fair, it seems like a lot of places are shipping me orders all broken up in different boxes. That's my story anyway.
Sounds like you had a great weekend Kzoo!
Mine was alright. I had 5 days off of work as well, but I was sick for most of it... uuuugh! I got to see family, which was awesome. The food was fantastic! I just wish I didn't have to go back to work today.
All in all had a good weekend. Had four days off, got to spend time with family and my ILs were exactly as crazy as I expected so at least I came prepared.
No joke Maggie! Good job on hosting!!
Well, today is my first day back to reality without visitors since the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It's stinking so far.
We had fun with our friends and my parents though. We were able to do some things around the house (finally install the deadbolt that's been out of our backdoor since we bought the house) and change another lock and fix some things. We hung our lights on the outside of the house and did a lot of Christmas shopping too.
Overall, a good weekend- expensive but good.
ps. I NEVER realized how much you go through when you have visitors- seriously went through a TON of paper towel, toilet paper, and an entire soap dispenser (plus some). Not to mention the amount of food and coffee we went through.

Losing it...Without Losing it
We had a laid back Thanksgiving as well. My brother and his FI did not come to my mom's for the day (they went on Saturday after we were already gone), so there was no family tension, which was nice. On Friday, I did some Black Friday shopping with my mom and sister, which was also pretty laid back because the mall in GR was kinda dead IMO.
FI and I came back home Friday and relaxed. Saturday, I watched the U of M/Ohio State game (go Blue!), we went to dinner, and then we went to see Breaking Dawn. (LOVED it!) Sunday, I kinda felt like crap. The muscles between my shoulder blades and up into my neck are just killing me. 3 ibuprofen, 2 Aleve, a heating pad for an hour and an hour nap didn't touch it. I'm still not feeling great today, so I'm hoping I'm not getting sick. Regardless, FI and I went to Brighton last night to bring his parent's dog back after the returned from their Euro vacation.
I still feel like I need another day (or two or ten) of vacation...
We had a super busy weekend, Thanksgiving at my mom's Thursday, shopped all day Friday and then Thanksgiving at my dad's on Saturday. I am actually off this whole week so I'm just chilling. Unfortunately my grandma had to go to the hospital on Thursday due to some complications from her Crohn's disease, but she's doing better now!
I had a good Thanksgiving. My SIL came in late Wed. afternoon, so we went to Mongolian BBQ for dinner since FIL wouldn't eat there, and SIL doesn't have one in Pittsburgh & so DH could get his free b-day dinner.
Thursday we had SIL, IL's, my parents & my aunt over. I was still feeling the effects of my cold & didn't sleep well the night before. We were hoping to see the Muppet Movie at night, but I was so tired, it was good to just stay home. Turkey dinner was good & we got an early christmas gift from my dad, a new 32 inch flat screen tv. He had been talking about getting it for us, we never asked, but being an only child, he likes to do that for us.
Friday was DH's b-day. I walked 4 miles w/SIL, went to the Dollar Store to get some supplies & then we took DH out for his b-day dinner & then did cake at home.
Sat. I got up at 6:30am to go w/SIL & MIL to Joann's & Kohl's. I went mainly to get in extra time w/SIL since she left at 1pm to go back home. DH & I took a 4 mile walk together, it was nice to hold hands & just talk about things, esp. w/him being gone all the time.
Sun. we did church & then I did go to Brighton to run a few errands just myself, it was nice to get a few things off my christmas list. IL's went home on Mon. morning, so now it's back to normal, but I really had a relaxing time.
