The Hunger Games?

I know we've talked about this before, but I saw the preview for the movie and now I'm really curious. Did you read the book, did you like it? etc. Also has anyone read the whole trilogy, because I'm thinking about buying the box set, but it looks a little repetitive...

Re: The Hunger Games?

  • I've read all the books. I really enjoyed them.

  • I read the trilogy this summer.  I enjoyed it.  I actually liked the second book better than the first.  The third was ok, but it did a good job of wrapping up the story.  It's definitely an "easy read".  But I was entertained.  I would recommend reading them, I don't know about buying them though.  I definitely wouldn't read them more than once.

  • I enjoyed them.  I thought the first book was the best, though.  I thought in the second and third books Katniss got a bit whiny and annoying.  But, overall I thought it was a very interesting concept, and I'm glad I read them.

  • I'd get the box set. They suck you in so you'll want to keep going.
  • I read them and enjoyed them. I agree w/ Lindsay though, they aren't books that I would read more than once.

  • I wouldn't call them stellar books, but they're definitely entertaining YA books that aren't 100% about teenage angst and love.  I need to reread the first before the movie comes out and purchase the other 2 in some form.  I'd buy them just because they're easy reads and would be a great book to reread quickly.

  • I definitely recommend them. The first was best but the entire trilogy was definitely worth reading.

  • Oh I loved the books! I read them All and I'd read them again.
  • I read and loved the trilogy! First and second books were better than the first IMO.  I would recommend reading them for sure :)
  • I just started reading Hunger Games.  I'm on chapter 5 or 6.  I wasn't really interested in reading it for a while, I think partly due to the title and the front cover.  Silly reasons, I know.  Someone recently lent me Hunger Games and once I read the blurb on the back cover, it sounded pretty interesting.

  • Loved The Hunger Games! The second was good, I still haven't read the third yet. I listened to them on audiobook and really enjoyed it. I think the first was the best though.

  • I'm half-way through the third now...it's not as good as the first. But I liked them and am looking forward to the movie! It's an interesting concept.

I also didn't read the books because of the cover, I had one of my cheerleaders recommend it to me so I decided to read it. I read it in a night and stayed up til 3 in the morning.
