Remember how Amy posted about a "Christmas Countdown" / Advent Calendar she did for her DH last year?
I remembered this, and am going to try to pull it off this year.
Here is a link to Amy's original inspiration at The Dating Divas.
I think there was at least one other person here who did it. Since it's the last minute (AGAIN!), I'm trying to figure out an easier way to do the cards/envelopes. The free printable cards that are provided are OK, but was hoping to do something a little different. I remember someone posted about some kind of scrapbooking advent kit they found or something? Does this ring a bell with anyone?
I'm going to hit up Michaels this afternoon to see what I can find...
Re: Remember the "Christmas Countdown" for DH?
This would be me! I want to say that I found it at either AC Moore or Michael's (I'm sorry that I can't remember which) It was soooo simple to put together & then I just wrote out my own "notes" for each day on scrapbook paper & stuck them in the little premade envelopes.
We just found it the other day when we unpacked our Christmas decorations for the year & it's still in great shape. So much so, that DH even mentioned that maybe this year he should fill them with goodies for me!! I'm afraid to get too excited, but love the idea
Yep! Got it out again this year and he is going to open them like last year since he can't remember what they said.
This is one of my favorite things I've made. If you need ideas for things to say or how to make anything let me know!
PS Thanks for posting the link, LynZ!
Thanks, all. I think DH will really appreciate it this year.
I wasn't able to find the advent calendar kit at Michaels (it must've been AC Moore, MrsL--I think I checked Michaels last year, too, and no dice) but I found pads of Christmas cardstock that are meant to be made into cards. All I have to do is fold them in half and TA-DA! instant cards, so I think these will be good. I picked up some ribbon and clothes pins, and I'll print numbers to stick on the front of each card.
Now, to just figure out what to say in each of them. I have some ideas, but I'm sure I'll get stuck in a rut, Katie... I'll Facebook message you.
