Dexter 11/27 (Spoilers)

Duuuude. Whoever called it that Gellar was not real/dead, I commend you. I really did not think that was going to happen. Although I was questioning it a lot more during this episode.

The commentary was really cool at the end, if anyone watched it. Interesting that most of the actors didn't even know that Gellar wasn't alive either.

Re: Dexter 11/27 (Spoilers)

  • What a freaking cop out! I think I'm done watching this show. I think that "surprise" has been done way too much lately that it's lost all shock value.

  • I'm with you sammichele! I started questioning Geller after the comment last week. I also enjoyed the commentary- its cool that they kept it a secret from everyone.

Dexter really needs to kill someone soon though, it's long overdue.

  • That Geller was dead all along didn't surprise me. It's amazing to me that Travis could plan and execute his kills as expertly as he does while simultaneously being crazy. How did he manage to run around with Dexter, still do the kill, set up that whole bloodbath booby trap, and not make mistakes? It requires some suspension of belief that he could actually pull that off.

But what was the hand in intern's apartment? Was that the Ice Truck Killer hand? I couldn't see clearly enough. The hand from the atheist professor was in Travis's sink, right? Couldn't quite see that either. I need a bigger tv, lol.  Is this a coincidence that this season now involves two missing hands?

Loved Deb finally standing up to LaGuerta.

  • Has anyone read the books that the series is based off of? I started too, but the show completely derailed from the books awhile ago, and now I'm starting to wonder if they are trying to come back. *SPOILERS BELOW! (OF THE BOOK)*

In the books, Deb does know about Dexter's killing habit. ALSO, the one that was married to Batista? (I can't remember her name..) she actually dies in the first book. While the show has surpassed the books in content, I'm wondering if they are making Dexter sloppier in order to have the secret come out to his sister. Plus, Batista's ex was a capital B in the books. We've def. seen her bitchy side come out more this season.

  • To those who didn't see it coming, think about it:

    1. Travis was the only one who ever saw Gellar
    2. Even when his sister was killed, they never showed Gellar take her.
    3. In last night's episode, Dexter had his head up relaxing when Travis said oh there goes Gellar.

I was seriously about to kill Dexter myself last night. He is trusting way too many people lately. Now the season is going to get better I think because he won't be able to get Travis as quickly AND Travis knows about Dexter. Not good.

**The hand in the intern's apt was the hand from the ice truck killer case**

Oh and the chief is so going down. This is gonna get crazy with LaGuerta trying to stop Deb and vice versa.

Also...Quinn will be fired soon I think.

  • I think the writers gave themselves way too much credit in thinking that this was going to be a huge 'reveal.' Like a lot of the rest of the board, I thought it was pretty obvious from early on that Gellar wasn't alive. Also-it was pretty obvious that the Chief was involved with the stripper who ODed and LaGuerta was trying to cover for him--no huge mystery there. Last night was so anticlimactic for me, I found myself rolling my eyes--I'm so sad for what used to be my absolute favorite show. This season SUCKS.

Are you referring to LaGuerta? She was a huge b!tch in the first 2 seasons, season 1 especially. She became a sympathetic character in season 3, and mellowed out more in 4 and 5. I agree, her b!tchy side is definitely making a comeback this season.

  • Dexter is way too sloppy. Deb is going to find out. Im thinking that church is somewhere in the 400 ft or whatever range the IP address will reach.

The bowels of wrath ( sp) was pretty gross.

When we saw quinns date we cracked up.

This season is supposed to be so different, but Im not impressd with it....I like the story line, but its just dragging and dragging. I think there is only 3 episodes left of the season.

Yes! I can never remember her name for some reason. In the book, she was like, the ultimate B.  Even more so than they ever portrayed her in the show, since they wanted her to be some one you could sort of relate to.

  • Yeah, no big surprise on Gellar. And if you go to the Dexter FB page, people have been posting that Gellar is dead for the last 6 episodes, so I think the secret was out long ago.

While I have always thought there was something up with the intern, I was actually a little surpised that he had the hand.

    The chief is totally fvcked.

  • I'm must be the slowest runner in the race, but I did not see the Gellar being dead thing coming at all. (But we just watched the rest of the episodes last week, so I haven't been reading or discussing anything about it!) I was shocked!

If I had not read it on here I never would have thought it either. I am pretty slow at picking things like that up. I am SO unobservant it's not even funny. I was kinda sad I knew already but last night I was pretty damn sure it was true since i was looking for clues about it

Same here!  But other than here, I haven't read/discussed it anywhere else so I haven't been clued in.

BUT I will say that I have thought a couple times that for a man whose picture is in all the newspapers, he's pretty brazen to go out in broad daylight.  That seemed odd to me.

It is.  They panned to it at the end of that scene.

I was really, really disappointed by this episode.  I thought since the beginning of the season that Gellar wasn't real, and because they had dragged it out for soooooo long (and it was pretty obvious if you watched the episodes with that idea in mind) I was hoping that I was wrong.  It just seemed too dragged out for something so obvious.  I thought the show was smarter than that.

  • I hadn't read spoilers from anywhere so it was a surprise to me that Gellar was already dead.... lol
