XP: anyone have federal CareFirst (standard)?
I'm considering switching during open enrollment and I was wondering what you thought of it. I like that my acupuncture would be covered (that's $75/month saved!) and I'm hoping they will cover a portion of a potential homebirth next time.
Thoughts/experiences? Specifically, how does the deductible work? Our current plan doesn't have one.

Re: XP: anyone have federal CareFirst (standard)?
The deductible part is new (I'm guessing you're talking about the "healthy blue" new option). I'm going to have to switch up to the high standard in order to have the same coverage I currently have with no deductible. Im curious to see if you get any other responses, but this deductible crap is crap if you ask me. Otherwise, I've had it for 9 years and haven't had one complaint.
Yeah, the deductible thing is weird to me, too. Apparently part of the deal is that you don't have copays for doctor's appointments (even sick visits) etc., so how do you ever reach that deductible?

I'm guessing prescriptions count towards the deductible. I have the comparison sheet at home from the 2011 plan to the proposed 2012 high vs the healthy blue plans. I was just looking at all of this yesterday so everything is sitting beside my recliner. I'll grab everything tonight and bring it in tomorrow so I can actually analyze a few things unless someone else chimes in. From what I read yesterday you pick one PCP (one doctor even if its a group) and if you go to someone else other than that ONE doctor you get charged the applicable fee for the appt even if its a sick visit so god forbid you need an emergency appt and your PCP isn't available. Either you wait or pay.
