So DH and I have pretty much decided on calling our LO Amelia, but don't necessarily like the flow of Amelia Mary. DH likes the flow of Mary Amelia, but is concerned about the long term annoyance/effects of her having to tell others to call her Amelia (DH always used a NN and not his given name). So - WDYT?[Poll]
Re: BR: Name Poll
Forgot to say that Mary will definitely be the other name due to it's family significance
My college roommate's name was Mary Janelle, and went by Jan her whole life. When she got married, she contemplated long and hard about changing her name to Janelle Mary because she was tired of correcting people all the time.
I understand what you mean about the flow-I think Mary Amelia LastName SOUNDS good, but Amelia Mary LastName definitely doesn't sound bad. I would rather go for convenience over a slightly better flow, especially because she will be Amelia LastName in every area of her life-you are the only ones who will likely use her middle name on occasion.
Ditto. My ex went by his middle name, it can be a pain in the arse.

Agree!
IMO, you should name her what you intend to call her.
The only time I can really get behind purposely naming a kid FN MN and then going by MN is when you're carrying on a boy's name--like John David III or whatever. If the kid already has a grandfather named John and a dad that goes by Johnny, I think it's fine to decide to call the 3rd "David." If that makes sense.
I think Amelia Mary is nice, and like others have said--the times you will actually call her "Amelia Mary" will be infrequent, so the flow is not really that big of a deal!
