Family gift ideas?

B has two half-sisters.  We usually buy them each one "family gift" for Christmas.  In the past we've gotten them restaurant gift cards, movie rental gift cards, and snack items.

Can you think of other ideas for family gifts?  I feel like we get them basically the same thing each year.

Family #1 = SIL, two nephews (16 and 14), one niece (10).

Family #2 = SIL, boyfriend, three nephews (17, 10, 1), one niece (11).

Re: Family gift ideas?

  • Where do they live?  I feel like a geography obsessed weirdo for asking you about locations of people twice this morning already, but here it might make a difference.

They both live in my hometown, up north.

  • Ice skating passes?  Bowling passes?

How about a board game for family #1?  That one year old in family #2 throws everything off. ;)

I saved the link.  Can you edit out your first paragraph?  Hehe... paranoia here.  It's a small town thing.

  • Okay, I read throught that list GRSP.  Pretty hilarious.  Thanks for finding it!
  • paragraph is gone.  I wasn't thinking, sorry.

What about a family game for a video game system they might have?

This is what I was thinking.  Or how about a gift card to a ski resort?

  • What is your price point? (if you don't mind sharing)

     Hmm...

What about a pizza stone...but I can't think of any add ons for this, so never mind. Smile

Yeah, I would ask if they have any gaming system and suggestions for game.

Do they like to camp?  We have a cool book at my giftshop called So Much S'more to Do and it has 50 smores receipes. You could get them that, the stuff to make smores, so roastings sticks (you might be able to find some cool hand carved roasting sticks around).

There is a crap load of "fun" appliances out this year, however my guess is after a few uses they won't be used again.

  • Netflix subscription?

  • I actually came across a Pizza Gift Basket suggestion.

    Pizza Party Gift Basket

Pizza is a popular meal for an entire family, and there are many ways to personalize pizza so every family member can have exactly what they enjoy. Consider including:

    • Pizza stone or cooking pan
    • Pizza
      Create a pizza gift basket.
      Pizza cutter
    • Crust mix
    • Jar of pizza sauce
    • Dipping sauces for crust or bread sticks
    • Gourmet pizza recipe book
    • Red-checked tablecloth and napkins
    • Two-liter of soda or individual soda bottles
    • Assorted additional pizza toppings

Cooking homemade pizza can be fun for a family to create a meal together, and it can lead to a delicious family night they can enjoy week after week.

  • The pizza idea is great!  Are there packaged meats from the co-op that you could add?

  • Oh, I really like the pizza idea!

We usually spend around $30 per family.  B said he'd like to spend a little more this year though.

    Thanks, guys!

Yes, but I'd have to keep them frozen and that makes things kind of difficult, logistically, since we'll be traveling.  Hmmm...
