Good Monday Morning Seattle Nesties!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! We had a great weekend and now I am back at work. I've got things to do so it's good to be here.

Any fun events from the weekend? We went to see the Seattle men's Chorus and it was fantastic. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something fun and Christmasy to do.

Anyone shopping for Cyber Monday? I have one thing to pick up but that's not too exciting!

Re: Good Monday Morning Seattle Nesties!

  • Good morning! I cannot believe my 5 day weekend ended to quickly...

It was a great weekend. Wednesday, I spent the day cooking for Thanksgiving and made myself a bday cake. Wednesday night we went to a Thanksgiving eve service at church then had friends over for cake and champagne. Thursday, we went to my parents' in Poulsbo for the day. Friday, lots of shopping and present wrapping, then H took me out for a wonderful dinner for my birthday. We also went to Sur la Table to get all the accessories for the espresso machine he ordered me. The machine came on Saturday, so we spent the better part of the afternoon playing with it. Then we went to happy hour, and put up the tree while we watched the apple cup. Yesterday was just a bunch of errands and lunch out with my grandma.

I'm super bummed to be back at my desk this morning, but my homemade latte is helping take the edge off. I may do a little cyber Monday shopping but I haven't seen any deals I can't pass up yet.

    Have a good Monday!

  • Good morning!

I'm happy that the Huskies won the Apple Cup this weekend, but UW, Century Link, and Metro really need to get a few things figured out before next season starts.  It was so hard to figure out what food each of the food stations had, there was no rhyme or reason to how to find nachos  (my favorite drunk food at football games).  And the mess that was the Metro Tunnel was RIDICULOUS.  UW and Metro need to figure out a better way to handle the thousands of UW students who flock to the tunnels to get back to the U-District.  DH and I had to fight our way through the crowds to get to a bus that would take us back to Northgate (where we live).

I'm awaiting news on whether or not Paul Wulff still has a job next season... should be interesting.

I'm browsing Cyber Monday deals, but nothing has stuck out yet.

  • Mgoss - Getting a bus in the tunnel after a Seahawks game isn't any better. Getting out of downtown after a game is the worst part of the day.

We had a great relaxing weekend. My parents were here for 3 days, and I really enjoyed that. My dad did some house projects for me and my mom and I put up the Christmas tree and made new ornaments.

My parents left late Saturday night, so DH and I slept in on Sunday, ran some errands and watched football.

  • Good Morning!

We went up to British Columbia to visit my sister. My parents came to visit me on Tuesday and left to go there on Thursday. We were there on Friday and Saturday. So lots of traveling and fun! We went to Granville Island on Friday to meet them.

Shopping for Cyber Monday. I plan to buy our baby stroller since it's over $200 off, for an expensive stroller I'm not waiting to see if I can get it for less than that! I really want to get some more dishes for our china set but I don't think John will go for that.

unfortunately, ditto kari on the fact that it's just as bad after any other kind of game down there :-/  I didn't go because I forgot to buy student tickets before the deadline (it was all messed up and different this year because it was at a different stadium), but it turned out ok because we had things to do around the apt during commercials.

Random question: did they serve alcohol at the game?  On one hand, I thought there was a Pac12 or NCAA rule or maybe it was just our stadium that said no, but on the other hand it's a stadium that normally does sell alcohol so they technically could.  Just curious ;)

  • Morning!

No cyber shopping for me today.. This weekend involved trying to get back on the workout train, and struggling to put up our tree.  I told H since we're not going back to the midwest this year we need to get a real one... I have such fabulous memories of our tree growing up!

Well, H didn't want to cut one down (fine) so we went and got one at Home Depot, bought a stand, etc.  got it home, got it up... it stayed for a few hours and fell.  we got it back up, put lights and garland on it... and it fell again and we couldn't get it back up.  We ended up making a 10:30pm Fred Meyer run because we were convinced we got a crappy stand.  We bought a more expensive stand, and still no dice.

We realized the trunk was too big and we needed to get some of the knots off of the trunk so it would go farther in the stand.  We have absolutely no power tools...

So H sat on our living room floor with a flathead screwdriver and rubber mallet and chiseled all of the knots of of the tree.  He was not a happy camper... and I heard a bunch of "I told you so"

But our tree is up, still standing, decorated and the house smells wonderful.  Maybe he'll forget what an awful (aka funny) experience this was by next year.... ;)

Yeah, I understand that it's pretty typical, but I still think it was even worse than usual since 90% of the people waiting for buses were super drunk 18-22 year olds and ALL heading for the same spot in North Seattle.

Yes, there was alcohol served, but only in certain sections.  I know the Club level was one.  So pretty much the more expensive ticket sections.  UW's website didn't have the exact sections listed, which was really frustrating since we had to wait until we got to the stadium to figure it out.  I don't know why UW couldn't have been clearer with telling their fans where alcohol was served, maybe it is some sort of NCAA rule Confused

  • whoops. so i wont be winning wife of the year this year. yesterday h was complaining that there was something wrong with his cheek. i told him he was fine and his skin was probably irritated since we went to the hotsprings earlier that day and we were soaking in salt water. then we got home and he said the same thing, but a small bump formed and he started to pick at it. and i told him to knock it off bc picking was making it worse

. so this morning he wakes up and half of his face is super swolen, to the point where it changed the shape of his face on one side. i felt like the biggest jerk ever, so i ran him to the doctor this morning and she sent him to a specialist. so, im hanging out at the specialist with h this morning to see whats going on. :(

i am keeping tabs on the amazon deals from my phone though :)

  • Good morning! We had a pretty good Thanksgiving. First time we got to use our fine china (YAY!! It's so pretty!) Sadly, we also figured out we had 7 dinner plates and 8 people eating! "Luckily," since he'd had dialysis that morning, FIL wasn't hungry (poor guy) so it was ok to only have 7 plates. The deals at Macy's aren't amazing, but I think when I get home we'll order a few plates to have 8 dinner/dessert and fill in the rest later.

I fell down our evil narrow stairs Thanksgiving evening. My cat was being cute so after I went to the bathroom, I was going downstairs to snuggle him before going to bed. The top half of our stairs are these old, crazy narrow treads. I wear a 7.5-8 shoe and only 2/3 of my foot fits on the stairs. So now I have a worse than normal neck and right arm and a bruise larger than my palm on my hip. At least I'm done limping!

We had friends over for social game night (as opposed to strategy games) on Friday and since I was home alone on Saturday, I had my girlfriend over and we just chatted and watched a chick flick on TV. Other than slowly working on the disaster of the kitchen, I didn't get any of my home chores done...and it was nice!

  • Good Monday Morning! Well I guess it's afternoon now!

I dyed my hair and I like it better this morning. :) I actually put make up so that made a difference.

It is getting closer to the end of the year and that means closer to vacation time for me! SQUEE!

Hope everyone has a productive Monday! I have a few piles of paperwork that need to be tended to today. :) Wish me luck!

  • larzhope -- that will make for a great story next year :)  You might also consider "investing" in a hack saw (they're ~$10-30).  They are a good accessories to live christmas trees.

uw - your husband's face has bad luck.  i hope he's ok!

At least you didn't break a foot like I did!! Speaking of which, my foot is KILLING me today, and I'm seriously pissed off. This is 9 weeks after the injury. It should not still be hurting. I hope a specialist can help figure it out :(. I've been seriously depressed since it happened as well. Apparently that's common for athletes who are injured. But working out/running/yoga is my stress relief. It's a huge part of who I am. And it's how I cope. And I can't do it. Freaking pisses me off.
I also gained 8 pounds (minus whatever the cast weighs) from my wedding, and I'm really not happy about that either. I started wearing my bodybugg again, so I can figure out how many calories (or lack thereof) I'm burning on crutches, so I can re-adjust my eating accordingly.
