For those who asked - trip advice w/todder(s) - Long

Since I am on my lunch break, I thought I would let you know how it went travelling with 2 toddlers. I know a few of you had mentioned you would like me to recap.

Flights:

-Both flights went really well.  We decided to upgrade to Business Class (1st class) and so glad we did since we both had lap kids.  Way more room for them to wiggle around since trying to keep them on your lap for 2+ hours is not easy. Otherwise, purchase a seat of their own, and bring the car seat (we didn't do that since we had 2 kids and so much more other things to carry, laziness I know Embarrassed)

If you do a trip, I highly recommend lots of snacks, a new toy, and books.  These kept the boys occupied during the flight. On the way back was the only day we had a little bit of an issue. Christian came down with a cold the day before we left so descending was not easy on his ears.  He was crying and holding his ears. As an FYI, you are allowed your normal carry on and a diaper bag for baby/toddler.

Also if you bring milk or water for the flight, you are allowed only as much as they need for the flight, and it will be tested at security.  I was able to carry on ice packs for their sippy's.

Strollers:
-We opted not to bring our big stroller, but purchased 2 umbrella strollers for the airports.  This worked out well.  DH and I were able to each take one while navigating the airports.  We also used it a little at the resort.  We rented a doulbe stroller from an outside vendor. They delivered it to our resort, and picked up there as well. It was inexpensive and provided great sun shade for each of the boys.

If you go to Disney:

-I recommend getting a form of the Dining Plan.  We got our money's worth, and were able to use our snacks to get fruit, and smaller snacks for the boys throughout the day.  I haven't added it all up, but we definitely got our money's worth plus some. The only downfall was we didn't use all of our table services, and ended up converting them to snacks for the flight home. We lost a little bit of money from that, but to me it was still worth it.

-Get to the parks early.  There was one person in our party that was a late sleeper, so we wouldn't get to the parks until around 10.  By then, there were huge crowds (Thanksgiving week didn't help, and I will never go to a park that week again), and the lines for rides were out of control.  My boys did not ride any of the rides as a result. Which is fine, since they will not remember this trip anyway.

-I wish we would have brought some forms of child proofing.  The boys were into everything in the room.  Playing with the phone, climbing the sink area, pulling things out of the fridge, climbing chairs to get onto the table, and sticking hands into the air conditioners.  We did the best we could with blocking things off with our luggage, but we only had so much luggage to use.

Those are some of the best tips I can give any of you who may be travelling with small children in the future.

Overall the trip was great, the boys had a blast (even though they had to spend most of the time in the stroller), the food was great, and I am looking forward to their next trip when they are about 5.

If anyone has questions feel free to ask, and for those of you who are FB friends with me, I have posted pictures.

  • I am bookmarking this post to use later. If you could can you send me the name of who you rented the stroller from. I am thinking we will need to rent a stroller when we get down there rather than taking our big one. I heard it was expensive to rent them from the disney park so we might be better off renting from an outside vendor.

I love the idea about buying them their own seat and taking their carseat. I didn't even think about that, but that way its more like a car ride and now trying to get out of my lap.

I am going to stalk your pictures ;) so glad you had a great trip.
