How was everyone's weekend? Ours was good.
Wednesday night we went to Best Buy for the 2nd day in a row and got our new tv and computer. Life is starting to get back to normal again.
Thursday, we had a great Thanksgiving with the family.
Friday DH worked all day. The cable guy came in the morning to bring our new wireless modem and get our new computer hooked up to the interenet. He was also kind enough to program our cable remote for our new tv. Then in the afternoon, BFF and I did some Christmas shopping.
Saturday morning DH had to work, so I got started on some laundry and stuff around the apartment. In the afternoon, we started putting up the Christmas tree and decorations. Then, we went to dinner with SIL and BIL since we didn't see them Thursday.
Sunday we went to church and had lunch, then came home to finish the Christmas decorating. DH had to go into work for a few hours too. Then, we just chilled and watched tv last night.
Re: Happy Monday
We had a great holiday weekend! After Thanksgiving lunch @ Nelson's aunts home we took off for the NC mountains. It was our year to have SD (we alternate years with EX).We did a little shopping, went to a Christmas tree farm & selected our tree & had it cut down, went on a picnic, listened to Christmas carols while driving thru scenic mountain roads, watched movies in front of the fire, etc... It was wonderful. We made some great family memories. I'll try to remember to post a picture that we took at the Christmas tree farm tomorrow.
I am SO in the Christmas sprit now!
It was a great weekend! I had Wednesday - Sunday off work so that part started out great with the vacation time.
Wednesday - dinner over the next door neighbors' house.
Thursday - dinner over my mom's house. we had DH and me, SD (later in the day), sister, BIL, BIL's parents, my cousins and my childhood friend (kids were w/ their dad). Mom's NDN's came over later as well. It was a nice house full and I ate like a hog.
Friday - picked up 2 of my longtime childhood friends and hit the mall at 6 am. had breakfast and met up with my cousins. shopped w/ sister later then dinner for her birthday.
Saturday - decorated the house, church then dinner over mom's & played a game.
Sunday - spent the whole day on the couch; mom came over for dinner, got some gifts wrapped.
Thursday I watched the game (sick about it!), then started cooking all of the food. I had put my TWENTY pound bird in the brine Wednesday night. I made the following food:
Roast Turkey
Cranberry Sauce (homemade)
Mashed Potatoes
Oyster Stuffing (w/ Stove Top & fresh oysters - gag)
Regular Stuffing (w/ Stove Top)
Texas Toast & Italian Sausage Stuffing (new recipe this year)
Green Bean Casserole
Crescent Rolls
My family added:
Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Bread (YUM!!!)
Cherry Pie (mom's homemade)
Turkey Gravy (from packets because I forgot to make gravy....OOPS!)
Sweet Potatoes
We had my two sisters, their husbands and their (combined) five children under five! My parents came over for dinner Thursday night, too. Reveal went great! (see post below) That night my sisters and I stayed up talking until 2:30 am!
Friday we made food for the Husker game, then lounged with everybody, then I cooked spaghetti for everyone. That night after the kids were in bed we played Apples to Apples and had a blast and, again, stayed up way too late (1 am).
Saturday we went out to eat with everyone (except parents), then I put up our tree and household decorations after everyone left. Jeff and I rented Super 8...not that good.
Sunday I was SUPPOSED to decorate the tree (I only have lights and tinsel on so far), but I woke up with quite a head cold, so I spent the day in the chair watching chick flicks and napping. It was magical.
I just love long weekends
Thursday was our first time as Thanksgiving hosts! It went great, and I loved hosting! Here is a pic of our table and our turkey!
Friday, we ate leftovers and walked around the outdoor outlet mall, because it was nice out. I really didn't set out to buy anything, we just wanted to get some fresh air and enjoy the weather. The stores were crowded, but nothing insane.
Saturday, we ran/walked our 5k! We got home, had lunch, and then I put up the tree and made soup with leftover turkey.
Sunday, we just lounged around really. We went for a walk on the boardwalk because it was so warm!
Now it's back to the grind...womp womp!
Well Friday I came in to work. My boss never told me that I could have off
I still left early because it was DEAD. Met Shaun and Joanns to go fabric shopping. He went to be early and I stayed up and finished sewing some things.
Saturday Shaun had to get "pied" at work so that took up most of the morning and then he went to work and I worked on the baby's room.
Sunday, we went to church, Shaun went to work, and I worked on organizing my craft room.
It was the LAST weekend Shaun has to work! I'm so stoked to have him all to myself in the coming weekends!
Shmel's Blog
OH yes, me too. I guess the only plus side to this was that it ended up not being a TBO (total blow out).
My weekend was awesome... I wish they could all be 5 days long!
I had off Wednesday and used the time to make my pumpkin cheesecake and run some errands.
We went to my sister's house for Thanksgiving and had a really nice time. Everyone is pretty upbeat since my sis is doing so well. The most fun was that we started talking about what middle name to give the baby, and my mom said she'd like it to be after one of her parents, so I pulled up babynames.com on my phone and starting calling out names that start with R or H. Some were pretty silly (Huckleberry, anyone?)... but we actually landed on a name that we all think is cool and has special meaning to my family.
The one drawback: 4 hours in the car with my MIL. Ugh.
Friday afternoon I went to Staples since my laptop was on its last leg. I found one I really liked that had a great deal, but they were out of it in store. So I went home and ordered it, should have it tomorrow. Thank goodness, too, since my former laptop appeared to have breathed its last breath as of about 4 PM yesterday. I have to survive all night tonight without Internet (wah).
Saturday, went to Long Island for DH's cousin's 50th bday party. That was fun, but sooo much food. And another 3 hours in the car with my MIL. Ugh.
Yesterday - did hardly anything, and it was glorious.
